Taifun smoked tofu with almonds and sesame seeds.........drool.

This is the BEST tofu i have ever had. It is brilliant straight out of the package. I brought some to a potluck at school and all the omnis thought it was "smoked mozzarella cheese"--ha ha. It is smoky flavoured and very dry with the smoked nutty coating. MMMMM. Even my husband who is tofu suspicious eats this. Give it a try!

OMG I soooooooooooooooooo agree!!!

A couple of months ago I went through a phase of eating just half a packet a day for my breakfast!!! It is the best EVER... and I am SO addicted to that slight crunch from the almonds... and the actual tofu is the perfect texture.. just firm enough. OOOOOH and I like to peel off the skin, eat that first, then eat the middle. *cries* I want taifun smoked tofu NOW!!!! I recently moved to a different area, so I will have to have a look around and see if I can find it.

I bought the first packet at an independant HFS 2 towns away and loved it so much I saved the front wrapper and photocopied it and carried the picture with me to show to people and ask stores "Can you order this???" The store was way out of town far from the train station and the first time I went a friend drove me who has since left my school so I was looking for an alternate source to feed my tofu addiction.

We had an independant HFS in my town that was really crap about ordering things. The owner was what I would call verging on morbidly obese, always had a cold and couldn't be arsed to do anything for the customer. So I brought it to him and he said "No I can't order that" without even looking at my photocopy. grrrrrrr........on the bright side, he's recently sold the store to a man who is on the ball. I brought in and before I could say "can you order this?" he had found it in the catalogue and said "how many would you like?" and I ordered 3. All of which are gone now. We now have agreed on a standing order of 2 a week that I will pick up on Tuesdays unless I tell him differently. Hooray!

So to actually answer this...at my independant HFS. In the UK. But I'm sure US might could get it too.

I just visited Taifun website -- doesn't look like they distribute in the US! I will check with Whole Foods...

I am SO sorry--I didn't realize you couldn't get it in the US. This was the story of my life for 33 years. Something really good and tasty and healthy? Sorry--Louisiana doesn't do that. So move to the UK like we did and enjoy all of it's smoky goodness.

Engine Shed smoked tofu made in Edinburgh is the best tofu in the world! Sure wish I could get it down here.

I am SO sorry--I didn't realize you couldn't get it in the US. This was the story of my life for 33 years. Something really good and tasty and healthy? Sorry--Louisiana doesn't do that. So move to the UK like we did and enjoy all of it's smoky goodness.

You can get smoked tofu in the US. I used to get it all the time. Several different types as well. For example:

The biggest secret is where to find gluten powder in the UK so you can make your own seitan. It took me years to find a place that sold it but there's only one that I know of and its here: http://flour-bin.co.uk/
