I really hope that people will still choose to shop at vegan/vegetarian-owned online businesses before heading to Amazon. I know I'd prefer to have my money go to "mom and pop" operations like Food Fight! (http://store.foodfightgrocery.com/) and Cosmo's (http://www.cosmosveganshoppe.com/).

I surfed around the Grocery area at Amazon, and they still look pretty limited in certain things. I looked at a lot of their "vegan" items, and I swear I've never heard of most of the brands in their vegan store.
I do think it's a boon for those who don't have the luxury of a HFS nearby and would love to have some veg*an items in the pantry that they can't find locally. I imagine that those who DO have HFS's nearby (like me) will continue to shop there, as I plan to.

I'm going to check it because I don't have any good HFS near me with the exception of Mrs. Green's and it's a very small store.

Amy's right, not a lot of familiar brands.

Is all their stuff sold in bulk? A lot of it looks good, but since I have never tried it I really only want to start with one. I am fascinated by those lasagna chips, does anyone know where else you can get those?

Woohoo, they have ingredient listings. I hardly ever purchase food online, but I do like having the ability to look up ingredients online rather than waiting until I get to a store to find out if something is vegan or not.

I like supporting my local mom & pop, but their prices are hiked up SO high that it's a turn off. 6 organic earthbound farm kiwis at meijer are $1.99. They're (same kiwis) $2.99 at the HFS. Those are the only exact prices I can think of right now, but there is quite a difference. My local HFS has no idea what young coconuts are, either.

Well of the products on amazon's grocery site, the nature's path cereals are an absolute steal. If you buy them in the eco-pack (2lb bag) you can get six of them for under 33 dollars. You can't buy cheerios that cheap at your local supermarket and nature's path cereals are the best, organic unadultered cereals on the market that I've encountered. Not even the sale prices at my local whole foods can touch the prices on that cereal.
