I like 365, the Whole Foods Market house brand. I also like Ecover and Sun and Earth. I have seen the later at Target.

I like WFM's 365 brand, which I think is just repackaged Seventh Generation.

I like the whole foods brand too, before I was using Sun liquid.

Not sure if it's the "best", but I like Seventh Generation. Looks like I'll have to try the WF brand next time.

I am extremely happy with Ecos brand. It has a no-scent option, and it doesn't bother sensitive skin.

Mr. Tess does the lanudry at our house, and while he has agreed to use a more environmentally friendly dishwasher soap, he is convinced that the environmentally friendly laundry soaps won't get whites white enough. He's convinced that phosphates are in fact our little chemical friends. Testimonials, please?

I use Trader Joe's brand. I have no idea if it's the best, but it's biodegradeable, cruelty-free, inexpensive, and my clothes don't seem dirty.

My favorite is Bio-nature. It smells delicious.

Is it by chance fragrance and dye free? My husband has very sensitive skin.

The Ecos has gotten my SO's clothes very clean (I don't like white, he does). Has he tried it? You can get a little bottle for a test and see.

I have to say I personally strongly dislike the 365 brand (whole foods brand) of dry dishwasher detergent. It leaves a horrible, white film on anything plastic, even when I use a rinse aid like it suggests. I would never recommend it to anyone!

edit: whoops, didnt realize this thread was about LAUNDRY! I use seventh generation with no complaints. my whites dont get very white, but they didnt with the usual brands either. (all, wisk, clorox, etc) Must be my hard water.

I'll second the TJ brand. I think it would be great for sensitive skin as it leaves no smell at all, everything is just nice & clean.

I've been really pleased with Seventh Generation...right now I am using the lavender scented. I am very careful not to use too much...just a bit does fine. Check your rinse cycle to make sure you are not using too much.

You can also find it at Lowe's and Home Depot. But Method is our favorite! Pretty affordable too. Love the all purpose cleaner. Nothing like seeing the grease just bubble up and break away. And I don't have to worry about my cat getting sick if he sits in the middle of the wet kitchen floor and licks the bottom of his feet.

The 365 brand of detergent (laundry and dishwasher) is Seventh Generation repackaged.

I use Trader Joe's brand. I have no idea if it's the best, but it's biodegradeable, cruelty-free, inexpensive, and my clothes don't seem dirty.

i use tj too -- but i add baking soda, about half a cup or so with every large load. for my whites, i add hydrogen peroxide, about half a cup.

is 365 really seventh generation re-packaged? i think i checked out the label once, but it didn't say anything about being cruelty free. i will check again. i think 365 is cheaper than trader joe's...

for the dryer, i use dryer balls -- tj's detergent claims it contains softeners too.

365 is of course cruelty-free. They do not carry brands that do animal testing. Those that do (recently POM, for example) are told that their products will no longer be carried if they do not cease the testing.

POM is no longer tested on animals.

great then! i just bought my first 365 laundry detergent, and it does say vegetable based cleaning ingredients... i'm just used to looking for the rabbit or "cruelty free" wording...

i'm highly enthused, as orange is one of my favorite scents...

We educate our customers about the cruelty of animal testing of body-care products, helping to influence the marketplace by taking a clear stance that those types of products will not be tolerated.

They don't limit their stance to body-care products. And yes, their detergents are repackaged 7th Gen products.

I want to try the Trader Joe's brand, but am afraid to spend the money just in case I can't use it. I have skin allergy issues with every kind I've used except Tide Free. Anyone know if this would likely give me problems?
