recently, i ate at a restaraunt called The Pita Pit. It was set up like a subway, where you pick all the stuff to put in it. But it was so yummy and so veg friendly. I had pita bread with hummus, cucumber, tomato, onion, olives, and some sauce. It was absolutely delicious. This was in KY I was wondering if anyone else has had a pita pit expierence.

There's a Pita Pit in Champaign, IL. I've eaten there and a friend of mine even worked there for a while, but honestly, I was completely obliterated every time I went in to eat there and I don't remember them being particularily veg friendly. I thought it was alright bang for your buck though (I think like $5 for a fat pita).
I guess they did have a veggie pita, maybe even a few kinds of pitas that didn't have meat, but, like every other restaurant i guess, had plenty of meat to put in the pitas too. Also, if you don't eat cheese, that cuts down on the possibilities for what you can order there (I do still eat cheese though).

they have a pita pit in my old town in ontario. I loved it. I can't even get a falafel in this town though,

We have one nearby, and my daughter and her friends can't get enough of their food. My son and his dad have eaten at the Tucson, Arizona location, and they enjoyed the pitas too. It sounds like a great concept!

Mmmm, the Pita Pit! :lick: Probably the closest you can get to veggie heaven in a non-veggie restaurant.

I have been a fan of the Pita Pit for a couple years now, but I actually prefer Extreme Pita.

i prefer extreme pita because they don't charge you extra to put hummus on a falafel pita, but I like that pita pit has sprouts.

First I've heard of it either. Doesn't look like there's any in my area.
But looking at their website www.pitapitusa.com it looks really awesome... pitas, falafel, hummus, babaganoush, sprouts, romaine lettuce and spinach... you don't find that stuff at sub shops around here.

I remember when I went there, last summer, they prepared the falafel on the same grill as the meat:(
So yeah, to me that's not very veggie friendly, but it might've been just that shop.
I prefer Maoz hehe.

I have always watched for them to put the falafel on the grill, but so far they never have. They just put it in the microwave.

i went to pita pit in coralville, ia, for lunch yesterday. while the cartoonish mascots on the walls disturbed me a bit (happy chicken, nervous turkey, slabs of meat with eyes), the food was very good. i had a pita with hummus, cucumber, sprouts, and tomato; the produce was very fresh, the tomatos were juicy, and the hummus was excellent. i will likely eat there regularly when i am in the area.

The cartoons on the wall totally freaked me out too!! I've been to one in Seattle, which at the time was really disgusting. The tables were all dirty, they had no napkins, it looked like the floor had never been swept... yah. The food was ok, I liked the variety of veggies. I also went to the one in Boulder, it was a lot cleaner, but the falafel was really dry. If you don't have any other options its a nice change from a veggie sandwhich or a bean burrito.

I have heard of Pita Pit before and now that I know what type of veg options they have, I want to eat there. There is one near by too :)
