View Full Version : Forget the sweat, who likes the next day muscle soreness?

I don't care if I raise a sweat when I'm working out (and would rather not), but I do like that pleasant soreness the next day that indicates I worked my muscles. I had an extra long time at the climbing gym last night and finished up the evening with 45 extra minutes of bouldering after leading and top roping for two hours. Right now I have that pleasant soreness in my upper arms which indicates to me that I worked them well yesterday.
Do you enjoy that feeling or am I alone in my appreciation for the next day soreness?

I'm not a fan of the sore feeling (although I feel it every day) because each morning I have to carry around a squirmy baby and it hurts,

i agree with your love for soreness. theres nothing better than the constant reminder of how hard you worked...and every time you get sore it means your muscles are that much stronger. awesome!

Depends. I like mild soreness, but hate it when I overdo it to the point that I can't even sit on the toilet without lowering myself with my hands.

i love it, and hate it. when i can't laugh because it hurts my abs it's a bad thing, to me at least. but i like it as knowing i did something physical.

I absolutely love being sore!! As much as possible. Well, except when its is debilitating....but that only happened in high school during soccer pre-season.:whip:

Oh hell no. I hate even standing around for a few hours because of how sore my feet get, let alone the pain I get from long walking or exercise. I'd give anything to go back to the days when I could hike for a day straight without any soreness.

I love it the night after working out. I hate it with a passion when I go to get up the next morning. >.>

I don't really get off on the sweat or the muscle soreness, I just put up with them both as a part of exercising.

I also love the exercise soreness, especially when I'm laying in bed- I think it helps me sleep more deeply. When I'm in a regular routine of working out and I stop for more than 3 days, I can feel it when I'm trying to sleep.

My mind is in its clearest state after I am been climbing a hill on my bike for 3 hours straight. Nothing will ever come close to the joy I get from that destruction that takes place in my legs after climbing.

My friend likes it but i think its uncomfortable. Nothing made my muscles more sore than when I used to be in gymnastics. Every muscle my legs, back, butt, arms and neck hurt!! And its not really a work out it just uses muscles you never use because you stretch them all the time and damn ! lol Now I jsut run swim and bike but my muscles are never sore like when I took gymnastics for 3 months!

That is the reason I quite gymnastics, I wasn't physically fit enough for it anymore after taking a year off, and the soreness killed me for the rest of the week. I miss it so so bad and I wish I could keep up with it.
ETA: I quit it 6 or 7 years ago, and I still miss it.

I'm weird, but I'd rather sweat. I don't like the muscle soreness.

I dont mind a bit of soreness where you can feel that you've done a good workout, but that feeling you get the next day when you've pushed it a bit too far and it hurts to move a particular body part >ouch!< I hate that
