HAHA! It is a Lindt dark chocolate bar. It is in a white wrapper, but I am not at home so I cannot give the exact name. I was so suprised that it was vegan. :hungry:

I went to a grocery store last night and stocked up on vegan "junkfood". I could not believe how much they had! I am going to have to go there like once a month to stock up! I got chocolate soymilk (LOVE IT!), some vegan chocolate bars, some vegan swedish fish that I found. I also got some soy yogurts, rice milk and some soy ice cream..........
Aw, man! I'm so jealous! The closest thing to vegan junkfood I can find in my town is Oreos ... but only some versions of them, gotta be careful :) That's very cool, though. I'm going to the store to search for that chocolate bar first thing tomorrow! :p

Hey there! I looked at the Lindt bars name last night and it is Bittersweet dark chocolate bar in a white wrapping. It gives a warning that it is made in a plant with other products that have milk and peanuts, but I am ok with that. I love this chocolate bar. Do you have any publix stores by you? This is a big grocery chain in Florida, but they carry so much for veggie peoples. I was just amazed. It made me very happy and just made my life/transition so much easier. I hope that you can find this bar, but if not look around at like corner stores or places like CVS/Walgreens and so on. I know they carry Lindt bars. :smitten:
Which versions of Oreo's are vegan? I will have to look next time I go to the store. I am assuming the normal cream kind are not.

Wow that is absolutely awesome! Congrats! I haven't been keeping count, but I know I am on the right track now and have been probably about 5 or 6 days without anything dairy, no slip ups. I am on my way!

It depends on where you are (regarding Oreos)
Where I am, the regular white centred Oreos are vegan. But the mini ones aren't, and I've heard one of the other kinds with the flavoured centres aren't vegan either.
But I don't buy Oreos because of GMO concerns (but that's a health thing, not a vegan thing). I buy cookies from Country Choice Organics, they look and taste just like Oreos! I love them. But they won't be available everywhere.

Meatless, that makes sense on the oreo's. I never really liked them so I never looked to see which were vegan or not. Cookies aren't my thing unless they are chocolate chunk with m & m's included. Really healthy and animal friendly....ummmmm no! :dizzy:
I think I will just stick with what I have right now, that works for me. I love soy delicious non dairy ice cream. It is so wonderful tasting and works for me. Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure I could become 100% vegan at this point, but I am trying to seriously cut down on dairy and eggs. I already rarely eat eggs except as an ingredient and have started looking into vegan recipes so that when I cook I don't use eggs/dairy. This morning I made almond milk and it was quite delicious w/ my cereal. (Which includes small amounts of whey from milk...:-/ but still...)
Anyway, I've enjoyed reading through all the posts on this thread.

Me too. I am doing what I can right now, but am doing pretty well. I just end up eating occasional things with egg or milk as ingredients when at home with my parents if there is nothing else for meals, but like all the stuff i buy is vegan.

Yea...the living with my parents thing is the problem. The don't mind me being vegetarian and the whole family's been eating less meat since I went veg because I've been cooking. But being vegan would be much more difficult...especially since I certainly don't do all the cooking....

I'm alright with products being made alongside non-vegan ingregients. I'm pretty sure the non-vegan oreos are made right next to the vegan ones :p I haven't looked into all the oreo flavors, but I know the peanut butter ones and the mint ones are both vegan. The original version isn't, and I thing the inside-out ones aren't either, although I'm not sure.
Man, this is such a small town... we actually used to have a publix and some other places like that a couple years ago (before I moved here...) but they've all shut down, probably because of the HUGE 24/7 walmart here. *sigh*
I did find a couple wonderful sites online that sell vegan bars and chocolate, stuff like that. I just ordered some stuff from thevegetariansite.com. All the food there is vegan, but they don't offer a cold/frozen pack with your delivery, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my chocolate isn't a liquid mess when it gets here! :o

Okay, so I'm more on a "trial run" of veganism, I hope I can still join in this thread :) I've been lacto-ovo about three years, and I was pescatarian before that. I want to go vegan for a month to see what it's like. I started on the 22nd and so far it's been fine :) I was eating a lot of vegan foods already so, yeah, the hardest part was just telling my dad.

You know, that is how Walmart got their start. I had to do a report on them once and their strategy is to go into all the small cities and start business there. That and bullying companies to lower prices is what WalMart is all about. I used to love them until I did that report...now I think they are pretty much evil. That is a shame they came in and shut all of the other places down because WalMart doesn't carry much when it comes to vegan options.
Do you live in a hot area? Here is FL nothing stays cold for long. You have to speed home from grocery shopping just to make sure everything cold stays ok. :dizzy:
Thanks for that site link too, I will have to check it out and see what they have! I am fortunate (or unfortunate in other ways) to live in a big county with lots of choices.
I just thought of this, but I went grocery shopping tonight and the cashier was looking at all my vegetarian stuff. She asked me if I was a vegetarian and I said yes. This is what she said to me and I actually busted out laughing: "I was a vegetarian once. I stopped once I got hungry." I just laughed, took my receipt and walked out. What in the world? HAHAHA That needs to be posted under stupid things omni's say. I gave her no credibility cause she was also yelling at the sprite bottle when it tipped over on the belt.
Anyway, I hope that your chocolates and items that you ordered get shipped to you ok and not all melted! Let us know what you like!

Hey, Sunshine!
I love hearing excuses from ex-veggies even more than typical omnis! :) I got a good one when I first went vegetarian: "I used to be vegetarian until my hair started falling out and I lost too much weight." Oh geez ... so I guess she thought being vegetarian meant being anorexic. :p
It is too bad Walmart is the way they are ... an idea like theirs (buying up other businesses and offering cheaper products) could have been done really well - it could have benefited them AND us... although it's just not likely in our economy I suppose... it's really too bad.
But yea, I live in south Georgia! haha, so there's a VERY good chance my chocolate will be syrup! I've been stalking the mail woman though, so hopefully I'll get it in time!
I'll definitely be letting everyone know what's good! I ordered about one of everything, so it's going to be fun!

Hey Moechalatte! That was the first time I ever had an ex veggie say something like that to me! HAHA! I couldn't help but bust out laughing. I mean, who could take that girl serious expecially when she said that right after she yelled at my sprite bottle. I have had ex veggies say it just wasn't for them or they did it for health reasons and went back. I have never had my hair fall out as a vegetarian. If anything my nails and hair got stronger! My guess is she was a junkfoodatarian! :D
I can't wait until you get your mailing (hopefully in a bar formation and not in a liquid goo formation) and you can tell us all what to try! I am excited about trying new things now!
Last night I passed my first very hard challenge as a vegan. We went to an italian place and everything there was smothered in cheese, cheese, cheese. I ended up eating a tossed salad and some bread with olive oil dipping sauce. I don't know if the bread was vegan, but I thought that was sure better then the cheese pizza I was salivating over! I passed the test and am stronger and proud of myself for it! WOOHOO! My boyfriend thought it was cool that the bill was so cheap too. He says I am a cheap date since I became a vegan.

Speaking of chocolate, I miss hot chocolate. Does anyone know of vegan hot-chocolate mixes? and if they were made with carob instead that would be even better. I can't have chocolate because of the caffeine.

You could heat up chocolate soymilk and drink that. Or make hot chocolate with cocoa powder, sugar and fake milk of your choice. I think there's a recipe on the hershey's cocoa powder container.

I have thought of doing that with carob rice dream, but I don't know if it would heat well.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. Just make sure you watch it so it doesn't boil over.

Iwas missing it too. I made some by putting some rice dream, carob powder, and agave nectar into a saucepan over low heat, constantly whisking until hot(not boiling!!) It was pretty good.

I'm on day 7 of my veganism now. It's been good fun so far, no real problems. And I've decided I like Cheezly Extra Melting Mozarella flavour.
But I miss the moo cheese. Just a little.
