Deadline Looms For Endangered Standardbreds
Friday, June 09, 2006 - Standardbred Retirement Foundation Press Release
"At 4:00 p.m. on Friday June 9, 2006 three Standardbreds will move one step closer to the kill pen. You can help. The horses, Somerset Bull, Towners Dakota and Unmistakeable are in the possession of a Pennsylvania broker who routinely buys horses to sell at auctions frequented by the killers. The Standardbred Retirement Foundation does not buy horses and currently are rehabilitating and boarding over 101 horses. Contacted by a concerned Standardbred lover, SRF is willing to step forward to try and save them, but can do so only with specific donations earmarked just for these horses.
“We hope that by making the plight of these horses public, we’ll be able to raise the money to help them in the short time we have,” said Judith Bokman, acting Executive Director. "
