I've been looking for a new bicycle and it never occurred to me until I was at the store that the seats could be leather. I found this bike: http://www.diamondback.com/items.asp?itemid=178&childid=400
Does anyone have this bike or know if the seat isn't leather? Or any recommendations for another good bike? Thanks!

i'm pretty sure its going to be vinyl- why don't you email them and ask them though?

Are you interested in a "comfort" seat? It's a nice thing to have anyway, especially if you'll be spending a lot of time on the bike ... these are softer and made of lycra.

Thanks for the tip!
I looked around some more ended up ordering a Trek Navigator 100 bike in blue/silver and I got a lycra seat just like that and it's soo comfy. It's going to arrive at the store in 1-2 weeks, I can't wait!

Great question. I ride women's performance (race-type) saddles -- does anyone know of good ones of these in lycra or other non-leather?

I'm not a rider, but Performance Bicycle (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/category_saddles.cfm) has a large selection, and in the specs section, it says whether or not it has leather in it.

Most seats are non-leather, but I do know Brooks, Rolls and Selle Italia are (so avoid those). If you go to you local bike shops... they will know for sure.
