I've bought stuff from veganstore too, and they were fine. I think I got some free samples from them, so that was good. The only problem I had was that they added me to a mailing list and they kept sending loads of
emails I didn't want and they wouldn't unsubscribe me until I got stroppy about it.
Oh really?
I never get any emails from them (unless they are talking to me personally about something).
Ive ordered from them, no problem and havent received any emails. The faux suede boots I bought are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I walked miles in them the first time I wore them and not a blister or anything. (do you think if I keep plugging I'll get a discount?) :)

Guys, need your help here!
Can anyone recommend a good restaurant in either South or Central (pos north) London?
It doesn't have to be a totally veggie place, but naturally have a good choice.
I'm looking for somewhere to take my better half for a meal so I'd like it to be a bit special.
The best veggie place for a romantic meal, in my opinion, is The Gate in Hammersmith (Queen Caroline Street, just down the right side of the Apollo).
hey i'll be moving to london in a year or so :hamster: - if anyone can tell me where a decent, cheap (!!) :worried: area somewhat near a vegan-friendly shop would be, it would really help me out :wayne: - i'm still trying to narrow down my choices. Also, i've worked a a natural foods grocery/restaurant for the past 4 years :chef: , and i'd like to continue to do similar work when i move to london. How possible do you think it would be for me to arrange for a job before i arrive? :dizzy:
Thanks!
Realfood is launching a vegan creem egg very soon!
I can't wait!!!!!!
They are a great organisation so check them out and supprt the vegan creem egg and the other Easter egg (£5) they are doing this year to raise funds.

Realfood are also organising a massive Vegan Festival in the North West of England, in the heart of black pudding land.
So keep May the 8th clear in your diaries.
The place to be is Sachas Hotel, Tibs Street, Manchester, from 10.30am to 5pm.
They will have 50 stalls, selling shoes, clothing, food, books, cosmetics, chocolate, beverages - a veritable cornucopia of vegan goods. There will be a chill out room and music and entertainment during the day.
They have posters and leaflets available to distribute all over the NW of England.
(If you want to help in promoting it, giving out leaflets, or help on the day itself please contact them.
They are currently waiting on confirmation of a punk gig for 'young folk' to attend, and a possibly another gig for those whose tastes are more sedate.

I would suggest Stoke Newington. It's quite central and cheapish and one of the more vege-friendly, alternative areas. Lots of great restaurants, cafes and pubs, books shops, etc. It's kind of north east of the city centre. Don't know what kind of map you have ... It doesn't have a tube station but has a Britsih Rail stop and an excellent bus service.

Mmmn! What with the vegan snickers as well, and the creem eggs coming, all we need now is a mars bar!!
Hi British folk! I'm new here, time to make myself known..... I'm in Watford (just about in London, NW corner), 24, veggie for years but part-way to being vegan now. Those festivals look great! Will try to make it both to the one just mentioned in Manchester, and (looking back earlier in the thread) I see there's another one in London on 4th July (www.veganfestival.freeserve.co.uk). Nice to meet you all! :p

Yeah, I just got an email from them telling me about this, damn them. :grr:
Anyway, hi Keehar! The Vegan Festival last year was really good, so I'll definitely be going to that one again. Manchester's a bit too far away for me in Oxford though....
mmm Watford... I was born there, went to school at Queens, Bushey. Went to football matches, went paddling in the river Colne... Hi,Keehar !
Hi, Black Heart & Spud! :hi:
Me, I only moved up to Watford last March, but I've been through Bushey a few times. I live about 10 mins walk from the footy ground! (Not into it myself though.)
Where were you before Keehar?
Oh, and LOL Black Heart! So you thought they took you off the mailing list huh! :dunce: Foiled again!
I have to say this is the first non-personal email I have ever had from them. But if anyone is telling me about new vegan chocolates I'm happy to hear about it!
Manchester ain't too far away from blackpool, but I must admit, i find cities a little daunting. I might just go. I'm not sure though, sinc eI never am.

Hi Ethel, before Watford I lived in Balham for a short few months as part of a house-share, and before that with my parents in West Hampstead.
Oh, and Loki - Manchester's just around the corner from you, not an hour and a half away! No excuses, if I can go you can go :deal: Not that I don't respect your not-sureness, I'm often in that position.
the manchester one sounds good. hey, we could turn it into abit of a VB group meet if we have enough people going!
Well, at least we could get some pics for the photo gallery.
Just one thing, I don't know my way around manchester. Well, I do sorta, but not. So once I'm off the train, I'm pretty much screwed. (My directional sense is very bad) It'd probably be best to meet at the train station.
My not-surenes sis caused by many things. One is that my work contract should have run out a week ago. (There were some bugger ups by the management, so i'm in work for another month.) i might land myself wit ha job where I'm required to work on the day of the festival, but I'll put an 80% comitment into it, and from me, that's good!
I've checked and it's may the 8th. That seems good to me. Now, it's in manchester, but whereabouts? Near any train stations I may know of? Or near any locations.
And if there's falafel at the place, then it'll definitely be worth the trip.

We should definitely turn it into a meet! I can bring my digital camera! :)
I'd be willing to meet you at the station and I'm sure other Manc folk would be too. We could start the meet there.
Sounds good! It's in my diary, I'll book the weekend off work. I don't know Manchester either, so station'd be cool. Looking forward to meeting you all.
Maybe I could try to get my brother (at uni there) to go along - he isn't even veggie but maybe you could all work on him for me!! LOL
Or maybe I will come up to 'visit' him - that is, go off to the Festival and just crash at his place! May I'd 'see him' over breakfast the next day!
