18, veggie since 16.
I lose and regain my accent all the time depending on who I'm talking to lol. If I spend more than 5mins with my grandma I start 'talkin' propa' again :) (bit more geordie for you!)

Cool. If i spend time with my granny i get really broad and use more slang. If i talk to anyone from uni or here i have to slow right down and use real words. It's fun confusing people though but gets annoying when i'm asked to repeat every single thing! Normally i just keep my mouth shut and nod alot.

sorry to go off the above topic,

Just to remind people in the UK about the following important dates

Saturday, July 14: National Day of Action Against Tesco
http://www.viva.org.uk/

Saturday 4th August : Felix solidarity day http://www.speakcampaigns.org/index.php/
Wherever you live, you can join in the campaign to save Felix and other animals being abused and tortured inside the evil Oxford university.
If you can't have a stall, order some anti vodaphone leaflets and organise peaceful:evil: demos outside a Vodaphone store.

Do you get asked if you know Daniel Radcliffe?

No.. not yet, but my dad got asked where he learned to speak English so well!!

They often say things like "i know this family from london..do you know them? their name's ... " stupid really, i mean do they know everyone in this country!?! No!

Maybe that's why i just don't get on with many americans in this area.

Is your dad from newcastle, because that really isn't speaking English well :D
Yeah, I think its because the UK is way smaller than most of the states on their own americans don't seem to get that it isn't one tiny village, I mean i'ts a six hour drive to London not a small wander away.
I've heard loads of people getting asked that, one had a bit of a rant to them but it turned out that they actually knew the people they were talking about :)

Stop making me feel boring cause I AM from london!
well middlesex (seriously who the hell called it that) but close enough

it makes me laugh when americans say, well like spidergrrl said, "but she grew up only 2 hours away from me" - to americans thats close but to us its the other side of the country haha.

That's so true---You could drive for 6 hours and STILL be in Louisiana if you went from Shreveport to New Orleans (top to bottom)

In 6 hours I could be in Wales or Scotland from here.

But no, that STILL doesn't mean I know Brittany Spears.

Yes! The Egg Cafe is great hip studenty place that serves very good and seriously cheap veggie food. Its up some stairs in a funky old building so you need to look for the sandwich board out front. Its open for lunch and for dinner.

http://www.comestrutyourstuff.co.uk/venue.html

A number of chinese restaurants in Chinatown serve vegetarian meals with tofu.

I used to get a great meal in the Greek restaurant. Its really a meat place but if you get a couple of starters (vine leaves, hummous, pita breads, falafel and so on) you'll get stuffed and won't need a main meal. http://www.toptable.co.uk/venues/restaurants/?id=4037

A couple of the Italian places have veggie meals. The Bella Pasta is boring but you can get vegan pasta dishes there.

Subway as well... and Everyman Cafe up by the university, and that cool diner with the tofu burger... Heck, there are loads of places to eat veggie in Liverpool. Too many to list :)
