where did you two find the list of where else the event is going?
I looked around and couldn't see it. It looks cool though.

To the right of the page, there's a little drop-down box titled 'Forthcoming Roadshows' :)

I've got a question for the natives: How do you pronounce the word "tofu"? We heard a pretty interesting pronounciation last weekend, and so I'm wondering if that is how it is generally pronounced in this country!

"Toe-foo", I would say.

Me too as that's the closest I can get to the Chinese pronunciation.

So can I just butt right in here without following the thread of conversation ?
If so... Anyone going to the Oxford demo tomorrow ? (Seems like I'm asking this everywhere, but maybe other people will see it here) I get in to Ox. at 10.30, will anyone else be about then ?

I live not too far away, so I suppose I could go theoretically, but I have to be at work.
"Toe-foo", I would say.
Same. Though i have met loads of people who say it Tof-oo which sounds stupid imo.

Yeah... Tof-oo is the pronounciation we heard last weekend. We thought that was very interesting. :sealed:

Yes on Black Books Dylan Moran says "yes let's all get some tof-oo for the dolphins in the fridge" that is the only time i've heard it pronounced that way. I figured it was because either a) he is Irish or b) that character takes the p*ss out of everything and it was a deliberate mispronunciation.

I've always said Tof-oo... :worried:
Tah-foo is what we heard, is that what you mean, Delano?
I've only heard it pronounced a couple of times here (by the folks at the hfs), and they said toe-foo. At this festival over the weekend, at least 3 people pronounced it the other way. I must admit to giggling a bit.

Nah. Toh-foo. Like the first syllable of 'coffee'. I always found it easier to pronounce that way.

Bad news - turns out the Synergy Project has a break over the summer and there isn't another til October! It would be definitely something to bear in mind though, it looks very friendly and I'm sure the café they have in one of the rooms is vegan friendly as there was a shot with a carton of Alpro on the website, and the whole thing seems very alternative and ethical, more than any other club thing I've ever seen. It also goes on until 8 am if anyone fancies an alternative to sleeping in the future!
I would still like to meet up in London though if possible (if London is the most convenient place). www.veganlondon.co.uk seems good...I found some other interesting looking places on there as well such as VitaOrganic which is completely vegan ( http://www.vitaorganic.co.uk/ ), and also a vegan Caribbean place called The Spirited Palace which sounds yummy. I don't know if the details are correct or if this place is still there though as it might not have been updated, that place doesn't have its own website...
Oh and about the Oatly, I wrote that it isn't vegan on a sign that's next to the red cartons (I made it clear that the orange one was vegan and the red one wasn't and I said the reason) at m,y workplace because I know a lot of vegans (yay) shop there and I thought it would be good to use my position of pen-wielding authority (with limits, I was allowed) to keep them informed! So thanks for the info Jen, do you think more people should contact them then to make sure the demand is there? Just I don't buy Oatly at the moment as it's more expensive and I qwould feel bad if I demanded and then didn't buy (Ok so they won't know but y'know)...
