When it snows, we're all going to meet up in my meadow and chuck snow at each other. Assuming it does snow this season, right now it's endless rain.
But mostly it was me saying "hallo - is there anyone out there active in this thread, or reading it even" Maybe I should have said FREE VEGAN CHOCO BARS... ;)

The hairdresser that dyed my hair was British! I was supposed to be getting it foiled as well.. But the way people do it where shes from is:
-Put colour on
-Let it settle
-Wash it off
-Blowdry hair
-put foils in
-let them settle
-wash it off

But here we go
-Put foils in
-Put the colour around the foils
-let them settle
-wash them off

Hehe just thought I'd share that! But yea I like my hair without foils anyway! So it worked out good for me (Plus I get my hair done free)

Lighten up on my Buddy, VA. It took me a month to understand him. Under all those words is a high intelligence and a charm that will knock your socks off. Give yourself time, you'll learn VAspeak. Right, Darlin'.

Hi I'm new!

I'm in Croydon which is about 15 minutes from central London by train. I'm often in London and know lots of vegan friendly health shops, cafes and restaurants if anyone ever needs any info.

And as an aside I saw on the first page (I haven't read them all - sorry) a mention of the Wildlife vegan bed & breakfast in Blackpool. I stayed there a year or so back and it was very nice! And the only vegan friendly place we cound find to stay in that area. :sunny:

ps
Been vegan for about 10 years and was veggie for about 8 years before that.

Hi there! I'm new here so just thought I'd come and say hello in the UK section. I live in Fleet in Hampshire, so not too far from London. I've been veggie for 8 years and vegan since this morning - going well so far!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi Ethel!

Thanks for the welcome. I note you are a London bod. My boyfriend and I will be celebrating our six year anniversary in a few weeks and were thinking of heading to London to see a show. Do you know of any nice veggie/vegan restaurants we might try?

Hey Kerry!

Yes, I know loads of great places, let me know what area of town you are going to for your show, and if you are on a tight budget or not, and I will give you the low down.

Six years eh?! Me and my partner are celebrating our 12th anniversary tomorrow! It certainly flies by!

Is your guy veggie or vegan? What does he think of you becoming vegan? I hope you have lots of support around you.

(Have you joined any other forums or boards? There's a few good ones about and one that is mainly us brits.)

Hi again Ethel!

I'll let you know when we have decided if/where we're going! I think 'Chicago' was the show we were toying with seeing most (can't remember where it is on though off the top of my head!). Budgetwise - I guess up to £25 each in total.

My boyfriend is veggie. He was a meat-eater when we started seeing each other but 'converted' after a couple of weeks. He had tried to do it before but had struggled. He hasn't converted to being vegan with me but has been really supportive of me doing it.

Congratulations on twelve years with your other half! Hope you have a great anniversary. Is your partner vegan?

Hi there I'm in London too. There are plenty of good vege or vege friendly places. However if you want to treat yourself you just have to go to The Gate:

http://www.gateveg.co.uk (http://)

Starters around £5, mains around £10, so that should suit your budget, and vegan dishes clearly marked.

There are two of them but I've only been to the one in Hammersmith. My g/f introduced me to it and it's absolutely delicious. I ate probably the best tofu I have ever had the first time I went there. I still dream about it ...

Hi Kerry!

My partner went veggie several years back. We spent years trying to persuade him (after all, surely an intelligent guy would have no other option once he knew the facts!!) but to no avail.
Then he visited a meat processing plant through his work and that was it! I just found out he has recently lapsed a bit with sandwiches if there's no veggie ones left, so whether he is just easing back into it we will have to see. It was a bit of a blow though. He says he still wants to be veggie and is back on the path . . . fingers crossed.

Chicago is on at The Adelphi on The Stand I believe. The thing about eating then theatre is the time factor and any trvelling is tricky unless you are eating really early!

Corvine is right about 'The Gate', it is probably the classiest place but a bit far for you in Hammersmith. In my opinion 'Manna' in Primrose Hill is in a similar league, but even harder travel-wise.
(With these places they often only have one or two vegan or vegan option dishes, fine if you are happy to eat anything but if not you may want to call them and find out what is going to be vegan on the menu that day before booking. The menus are often the same for ages but can change every few weeks!)

I also love Mildreds in Soho, though it is a little less formal. But you can't book ahead so it would be tricky time-wise and its a bit of a walk, esp if you don't know the back streets.
There are a few really informal places nearer and quicker to eat at, where you serve yourself from a vegan thai buffet, choose from a hot tray selection and eat from a box or there is even a veggie fast food joint for burgers and the like! No need to book at these usually.

So let me know if you want more details about these when you decide what you are doing. And we can get others to chip in their ideas too.
