hello!

as some of your already know, i'm coming to england next sunday for the national vegan festival which is on the 14th sept.

i have a question or two....

i will be basing myself in cambridge (free accomm) and want to know where else i can visit in england that is nice and not too touristy. i will be going to london and have been there before last year when i came for the festival.

is it cheap to travel around by bus or train?
we won't be on a strict budget but prefer not to spend too much money if we can.
oh and it must be vegan firiendly f course, meaning at least one veggie restaurant.

some nice country places would be great to see...
anyone got any hot tips or hints for me.
i'll be travelling with my BF and we will be there for a total of 11 days.

does any of this sound like it might be your town/city or somewhere you have been to? hehe

i would greatly appreciate any help.

thanks :)
*sarah**

oh i am so excited.

i just found a bed and breakfast called HEARTSPRING which serves organic vegan food and it's right on the coast of wales. :vebo:

can i ask some more questions? (i'm sorry...)

how many hours is it from london to say, cardiff (it's actually in Carmarthen)?
what would be the best/cheapest way to get there, train or bus?

"The village of Llansteffan is a designated Conservation Area. The house overlooks the village's ancient church and Norman castle. There are locally many walks in varied landscapes - cliffs, sand dunes, salt marshes, woodlands and coastal paths etc. The house is only a 5 minute walk away from the local beach and a further 10 minutes away you are likely to be only in the company of wildlife."

this place looks amazing.
check it out for yourself >>> http://www.heartspring.co.uk/index.htm

ohh i hope someone can help me.
i have all butterflies causei would loooooove to go there :smitten:

I dont know the exact number of hours but its not much.
Many people commute between London and Cardiff.
Train will be your best bet.

mparle: Do you post on the Jillys Board? And yes, we all miss Cafe Pop. :(

Howdy UK!
We're in NYC, and my husband is coming your way the 3rd week of October to play some shows in London on his banjo. Anyone know of a real inexpensive (but decent) place to stay in London? I looked up some hostels and they seem cheap and pretty good, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (Veggie-friendly places to eat on the cheap would help too!)

Oh, yeah, if you like Americana Banjo music with a heap of yodelling, come out to his shows! Look on http://www.curtiseller.com for show listings.

Thanks guys.

so back to your question, i don't know where you can get them in london but the vegan store was selling them so you can order them online from www.veganstore.co.uk

direct link http://www.veganstore.co.uk/luna_bar.html

it is quite pricy though, i paid 1.75 pnd

If any of you guys ever come to the south of England, pleeease tell me! I'd love to give you a guided tour of the area.

There aren't many vegan restaurants, but plenty of health food shops and vegan-friendly products (if you look hard enough!)... also you could meet the local animal action group, and perhaps get a coach up to the demos in Cambridge.... or stay in the area and disrupt a fox hunt (there are quite a few hunts that happen surrounding my area, although I've never been on a hunt sab myself)... the list goes on! Go on you know you want to

i went to brighton, veggitash .... are you much further south?

oh the hunts sabs amaze me. they are so brave!

some people are coming from germany for the demo on the 11th oct at cambridge. i wanna come too !!!!!
i am trying to get a spot in their car but at the moment it's full *but* two people aren't 100% sure they will go so i am crossing my fingers!!

hello!

i thought i would post this here just incase you hadn't seen it already.

You can help build parliamentary pressure for a ban on all primate experiments by contacting your MP and asking him or her to sign EDM 1307. See the link to view the latest EDM signatories and check whether your MP has already signed.http://edm.ais.co.uk/weblink/html/motion.html/ref=1307

EDM 1307 - PRIMATE EXPERIMENTS - 03.06.03 - Baker/Norman

That this House believes that experiments on primates cannot be justified in view of the important biological differences between people and primates and their well-developed intellectual and social awareness, which makes their needs impossible to meet in a laboratory and their suffering so severe; notes public opposition to the practice; therefore believes it is time for the UK to adopt the Zero Option, a total end to experiments on all primates; and calls upon the Government to extend the ban on the use of great apes to all primates as a matter of urgency.
