Iceland's 'plain chocolate' isn't vegan according to these folks:
http://www.isitvegan.info/
Don't know if that answers your question, though...
Thanks. I had the wrong url for isit vegan :(
They link to Iceland's website, which says click here for vegan list download - only there's nowhere to click  I gave up on waiting for a reply from them and phoned them - a list is in the post.
The ingredients are listed as:sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, soya lecithin, vanilla extract.

It's probably made using the same machinery as their milk chocolate, therefore it may contain traces of dairy..... i'd still eat it though.
The mint and milk G&B aren't vegan, but they are vegetarian, and I must say that they're quite good.
Actually as i think i said earlier, G and B changed the recipe, it's mint chocolate is now vegan.
As for iceleand chocolate, if the ingredients are vegan i tend to eat it. Also for anyone who wants cheap vegan chocolate lidl's dark chocolate is vegan and really cheap. It's like 19p a bar and great for cooking.
I got the vegan list from Iceland this morning, which is quite interesting and helpful. But that dam' chocolate has 'no' in the vegan column. Can I be bothered to write to them and ask what non-vegan ingredient hasn't been listed on the label? Isn't it illegal to not include all ingredients on the label? Anyone know?
I'm guessing it's to do with shellac, as they mention that in their opening. Shellac is insect poo I think, so it may have approx 0.000000001 of a microgram on it as coating.
I haven't been in a Lidl in ages, will investigate, thanks.
Might be the trace ingredient thing, produced on machinery which also handles products with dairy in them?
Info on shellac (crushed bugs) here:-

Ask me in the morning, I can't be bothered to list all the laws right now ;)
Seriously, I thought so too, and might well apply to a good few things, but there ARE I think too many damn loop holes about ingredient laws. :furious:

there have been Scottish clan on the boards. and well, there are some northern englanders at least. I would guess there are still Scots here somewhere but I dont know of any specific one of late.
AS for me I am heading south though and currently live in the midlands.
"To produce just 1 kilogram of lac resin around 300,000 insects lose their tiny lives. "
Ugh. Ethel, thanks for that link.
The Iceland leaflet says
NB Shellac ( a resin excreted by insects onto the bark of trees) is commonly used as a glazing agent on chocolate products for example. It is listed by the vegetarian society as an approved vegetarian ingredient, but due to its animal origin is not permitted for a vegan diet.
WTF?
Any Welshies on this board? I'm an Aussie looking for the correct pronunciation of the words "suo gan". Can anyone help? Ta muchly.

Lol, there was no box! They got it out of the freezer and it was wrapped in clingfilm. The woman did tell me once who made it. I'll ask again, just for you :p My veggie and omni friends absolutely love it!

omg.. i was in marks and spencer today, and i noticed they have some new houmous. One that's topped with sun-dried tomatoe, and one that's got some kind of Moroccan topping (beans or something). Just had a quick look, but they looked yum! :hungry:

Pronounced 'See - oh - gahn' (gahn rhymes with kahn). It means lullabye but is not commonly used in everyday welsh language in north wales.
I saw that houmous in M&S whilst I was out falafel shopping. I was intrigued. I didn't buy it though.
