Hi there! If anyone is from Birmingham check out:

www.vegetarian.meetup.com/299/
and
www.vegan.meetup.com/142/

The vegan one looks better as it has been set up longer and has more members but both groups meet up as one when they have events. There is info about events going on around the country and some good links on the message boards.

Is anyone going the the vegan Bristol fest on Saturday? I am can't wait!

hello folks
Ive a question for you regarding nutritional yeast flakes (maybe it belongs in the Products thread, but it's a question for UK peeps).

Ive had the Marigold/Engevita brand before, and I really like it, but it doesnt contain B12. I know of an American-brand called Red Star that has B12 but havent yet found it here. Do any of you use nutritional yeast flakes that contain B12 - if so, whats the brand and where did you buy it?

Thanks.

I only just saw your post (I really should check the UK thread more often!). Engevita is the only nutritional yeast I've found in the UK, so I get my B12 mainly from fortified soymilk. I don't think you'll have much luck finding any other brands over here, unfortunately. :(

Did anyone go to the vegan Bristol festival? It was amazing! 39 of us took the coach from Birmingham to the festival and we all had a great time. It has been estimated that 5,000 people attended, amazing or what? I enjoyed all the free samples of vegan food, especially the chocolate! I ate more than my fair share and since I had already had a upset stomach from eating too much bread I felt very sick by the time I got home :( Bread is now band from my diet!

I brought home some real yummy food which my boyfriend tried to munch on, since he was too lazy to come to Bristol with me with me.

There were two vegan bodybuilders at the feyer, they were massive and I’ve been telling all my housemates about them. I wish I had a picture of them to show them and you lot.

Is anyone going to the Kensington Christmas Without Cruelty Fair on 5th Dec? Kensington Town Hall, London it is organised by viva.

What are you going to do to celebrate? My friend hit 3-0 last week, so he all his different friends there. Was interesting to see how the different groups mingled or didn't mingle. He's turned 30 but people think he's about 24- on a bad day.

I've never had a party for myself since I was a kid, so probably nothing. I'll probably hide all day and pretend I'm a cat.

You should do something. You only turn 50 once. It's an achievement,

Hi

I live in San Francisco, and will be visitingSouth Wales next week.

I haven't been to Wales in a very long time, so not sure what veggie restuarants are still open and where the best place is to get a decent vegan meal out.

We'll be staying in the Bridgend area, but most likely will take the train into Cardiff a few times.

I've checked www.vegdining.com, but there's only two places listed, and one of which is closed (Tomlins). I know there must be more vegan friendly places out there.

From my search on google, I've come up with this shortlist, but have no clue how vegan they really are, so would value your feedback.

The Beaz Neez Cafe and Restaurant (Cardiff)
Sage Restuarant (Cardiff)
Beanfreaks (Cardiff City Center, but not got an address)
Crumbs (Cardiff)
Greenhouse Cafe (Cardiff)
Govindas (Swansea)
Heyokah Centre (Swansea)
Khusi Khana (Swansea)

Hoping someone knows of something vegan in Bridgend :)

Thanks

The beaz neez is shut nowadays :( I think it's been closed for about two years actually :)

BeanFreaks is on St Mary st. and I'm pretty sure it's only a food shop...the only place I know of called beanfreaks is a health food store anyways!

Crumbs- serves really yummy food but they also serve dairy and eggs...but I know that everything listed as vegan there is vegan....

Cafe Naz- this is REALLY nice but they also serve meat dishes! I am pretty sure that anything they label as vegan would be vegan though... :tame:

I haven't heard of any of the others tho sorry...but I hope you have an awsomee stay...Cardiff really is a kewl place! :nigel:

Sorry I got it wrong, the fayer is nothing to do with Viva, it is put on by animal aid (This is trendygirl, I couldn't log on) Here are the details, if it is anything like the Bristol fayer I went to the other week it will be well worth it. There was 5,000 people there, wonder how many will go to this Kensington fayer? By the way it is FREE to go and there should be lots of FREE food to try!

Hello.. newbie here. Stuck in America. I'm from London and I've been here for 7 long years. I do love the blue skies though. I never knew the sky in November could look like that.... a deep and beautiful blue with no clouds.

Eek! I'm only 14 miles from Dover, just south of Canterbury. I used to live in Folkestone (Golden Valley).
I've never been to Liverpool, just watching Brookie was enough to scare me off ;)

Hope you have a wow time at the festival, too far away for me to get to though. Glad you're here :)

please be kind about liverpool.the stereotypical image of it is a nonsense.ive lived here all my life.it has a strong cultural side-theatres,art galleries, museums etc(we will be european capital of culture in 2008) and a very strong animal rights movement of which im a proud member.we have several veggie cafes and our very own monthly veggie social group.hey, even our own vegan festival now.so please...be kind about liverpool.thank you.vegan heart.

I wonder if you'll have a Plamil stall at the fest? Their new ginger chocolate is yummy.

They had a plamil stand at the manchester vegan fest, and they had cayenne chocolate and ginger chocolate. I tried both. the ginger was quite nice.
