Looks ok. Pm me if I can help :)
Hello, I live in sunny scarborough and there are no veggie hotels or restaurants/cafes. *gggrrrr*
Hi Izzie, I stumbled across this site a while ago and thought you might find it useful:
http://veganscarborough.tripod.com/index.html
I'm in York so not too far from you!
Solidarity with the veggie brother and sisterhood!
from
Cambridge
York- I had a yummy yum vegan nosh there two nights running this year, and I've forgotten the name of the restaurant already, kind of mexicanish. :)
I'd hazard a guess at El Piano? All the food they serve (except at functions) is veggie.
The only other maxican restaurants I know of are Fiesta Mehicana and Plunketts...

I didn't realise there were so many UK peeps on here!!
I'm really homesick at present. I made the mistake of watching Notting Hill the other night, and I sobbed all the way through it...not because of the love, Hugh Grant etc, but because I missed London so much.. mner.

Ohhh, I just thought I would post the fact that I'm moving to Manchester in September! Wooohooo! I can't wait! Getting outta the States... I'm going over to live with one of my best friends. I'm hoping there are good veggie places to eat and buy stuff, although, from what I've heard there are plenty. :)
Can I swap with you and leave rainy Britain behind?? :)

I'm in London, which is vegan heaven. I'm just back from a weekend in Maine - I ate okay, but it was hard work! Can't wait to get back to Planet Organic for lunch tomorrow, though.

Yeah I know Planet Organic in London, its almost on a street of its
own, not like in a really major high street or anything... More of a
side street.
I prefer www.freshandwild.com of the few places I'm familiar with.
Below is a list of a few more too if you wanna spread even a bit!http://www.veganlondon.freeserve.co.uk/shops.htm

Ahh, tofu.... it is rainy here too. And I love the rain... but you may come here if you would like to. In Chicago we have manic weather. One moment it's raining and the next it's sunny. Crazy, man. But our winters are much colder than yours. REALLY COLD. And our summers are hotter, too. It's very extreme. I don't like it at all. But I'm looking forward to all your rain, although I will have a hard time adjusting to the F and C temp thing. It'll be weird to say it's 11 degrees (which as I understand is nice weather there). 11 degrees here is cold as heck. Brrrrrr.... Hehe
And, Natalie, my buddy who lives in Manchester is going to see ani on thursday, also. Have fun and make sure to take pics. I heard it's a small venue, too. You are a lucky duck. :)
To be honest, I would rather live in Chicago than here but Colorado is where I spend my time when I can and that is where I hope to settle one day. I just HATE the rain so CO is heaven to me! More sunny days than Florida!! :)
Tell me about it with the whole temperature thing. I still work in F and it winds me up that everything is in C these days. I was brought up working in F and like it that way. There are a lot of us out there that still do :) You can talk F temps with me! :)
Have a fun time over here when you come

TRY  ;) to have fun over here when you come BL :D I'm excited for you you're making the move from the USA(Chicago)to Manchester, is it permanent or "semi on trial permanent??"
Beardedlady

Welll, seeing as I will have no place to live back in the states, it's permanent. I'm sure I will have plenty of fun. I have some great friends over there already. And it sounds ilke 2nd to London, Manchester is the place to be for action.
And Tofu... CO is great and beautiful and forward thinking. Denver is the place to be. If you come over be sure to check it out. Although, it does rain there, too... but not nearly as much. And I'll be sure to have my handy conversion sites up plenty when I move. So I can understand all of you! LOL. Ohh, and I love the way you measure weight there... It sounds much better to say I weigh 9 1/2 stone or 61-ish kg than 135 pounds. :)

hey i'm thinking about coming to the Uk, whats the most vegan friendly place to start?
Hi Beardedlady. I have been to Denver a few times and seen the Broncos too!! I have always followed them so that was fantastic to see them. I agree with you about that area being forward thinking. I love the boulder area and that is where I always like to stay. Its so nice there for rain though as it rains and then the sun comes out. Here it just rains...rains...rains... It is good that you like rain so much. Lucky we don't all like the same places in the world isn't it? It would get crowded!
I like stones and pounds but kilos! I hate it!!
How do you get to be here permanantly? I wish it was that easy the other way round! Do you have a work visa?
Beardedlady
06-05-03, 04:38 PM
We are trying to find jobs now to sponser citizenship. And in the uk you can stay on just a passport for 6 months. We are saving lots of money now so we can live for a few months on just that if need be. If we don't have jobs by the time we get over there it will be much simpler once we can interview and such. However it works, we will find a way. And they just passed a unskilled citizenship visa to get into the uk where you can work in food processing or hospitality and get a visa there. So that is a very good possibility for me.
As for you coming here, it works the same way. If you have training in a certain area you can find a job to sponser you. (although with current global politics it may be harder to get in America now) So if you have extensive training in a certain area I would try to apply for jobs. You never know, by next year, your dreams of CO may be a reality. If you want something bad enough, nothing can stop you.
And yes... it would be very, very crowded if we all wanted to live in the same area. We wouldn't be able to do this
:vebo::vebo::vebo:
Thanks Bearded lady! Very interesting. Good luck with finding a job over here, sure you will find one. Good news on this new unskilled visa. That is the problem that we have had in the past staying in the US as for a H1B work visa you need to have atleast a Bsc degree and can then apply for a job that needs a Bsc. My husband does now have that and doing an MBA now so we are thinking of doing what you are doing. Just going over there and trying to get interviews. The most we can do on a passport is 3 months so that is the most I have stayed in one hit before.
Sounds like you have plenty of contacts over here but if you need any help on anything then please contact me. I am in the south-east of the country, not that far from London.
