hi
Loki, 1vegan, PurpleGrrl and Syntax - it was great to meet you today and hang out. :D
(Sorry we never met up Veggcore - hope you are alright).
Sorry i left relatively early. Ive been feeling rundown all week, and just went home and slept for hours! What did you guys end up doing after i left??
Hope you all have safe journeys home (especially 1vegan!!)
The Vegan Festival was good. I guess it was small compared to other similar events, but hey Ive never been to anything like that before. It was nice just to know that the whole place was full of people who were veg*n (or at least interested in it). It got very busy. I spent much more money than planned (doh) - got a tshirt that says 'AllThis&VeganToo' (im a sucker for a great tshirt). Had some yummy coffee cake :lick: (never got any of those free sandwiches, oh well). Got to talk to Shazzie from www.shazzie.com, I didnt know she was going to be there.
Anyways..it would be great to meet up again sometime. Oh and I will attempt to put some photos online.
xx Nat
It was great. I wonde rif shazzie will take my advice and call her kid either Dave or Dave-ia.
I think I had everything that was free. I almost had no room to fit the falafel in!!!! It was great. i loved it, and Stuart (syntax) was pretty much what I expected. Except the scottishness. I'm still trying to imagine him saying "Lotto!"
It was cool. My only regret was not buying more of those wine gums.
Well, after you left nat, we went to the arndale centre, and basically got a drink in the food court. (Purplegrrl got some chips.) then we buggered off since syntax was tired, eitehr becaus ehe hadn't got enough iron, or because he hadn't had any coffee substitute.

haha how many packets of wine gums did you end up having??
I love the comments about the coffee substitute...
I only had the one. I finished them just before you left. I should have gotten at least ten more. I wa spissed off that instea dof actually having vegan marshmallows, they put a "coming soon" sign up. You can get them off the veganstore.co.uk website, and they're expensive (Six squid!) and they're rationing them. (Two bags only per customer.)
Next tiem they have a vegan festival, hopefully, they will have marshmallows. And we'll get there early (again) so we can get to them before everyone else can. (And next time, I'll ignore any scottish people who tell me to eat cayenne chocolate.)
Hey, incidentally, are the pics up yet?

ive PMed you a link to all the photos. I may put a couple up on the boards.
They arent the best photos (some are quite dark, and a few of us are red-eyed zombies) but hey.
I look pretty crappy on all the photos. Ah well, never mind.

haha No you dont! I especially love the one of you at the 8th day.
Me on the other hand, well i do look crappy. and seem to have the same exact smile in each photo.
I've posted two photos in teh gallery. One of us against the brick wall, and one of me at 8th day.
I'm wishing I'd bought:
a.) More gelatin-free wine gums. (They were soooo good.)
b.) Some of those veggie gyros from 8th day (I've been hoping for aveg*n donner kebab for a while, and I pass up when the opportunity comes. I guess I'll have to get some next time i'm in manchester.)
c.) Some of that lemon cake which syntax loved so much.
EDIT: I'll be trying that falafel out later tonight!!! (The fruity stuff.)
Hi, I'm home (about 15 minutes now :) )
I'll upload the cake and go to bed.
(man, I'm tired, on the way back the bus took the ferry instead of the channel train....)
(And next time, I'll ignore any scottish people who tell me to eat cayenne chocolate.)
:D I bought some of that once, if it's the Plamil stuff! It was so freaky I gave away it to my osteopath and he loved it.
It wa sthe plamil stuff. There were two plamil reps wit hthe chocolate laid out in free samples. I had a free sample of almost everything in the vegan festival. Syntax told me to try the cayenne chocolate, and I'm usually Ok with hot food, but it doesn't work with chocolate, in my opinion. They also had some ginger chocolate (Different, but good) and I thin kI tried some more chocolate.
PS, i gave nat's falafel a go, and it's quite good. It's fruity and spicy. It's got a good kick to it, but somehow, I think it's best not eaten as a breakfast. (See the quinoa pudding in the recipes section for a good breakfast!)
It's so cool. Niw I can say to my friends "F**k you! I've met Shazzie!" and they look at me with that cool look which says "Who the f**k is shazzie" and I get to tell them about me saying she should call her baby either Dave or Dave-ia.
lol. I'm quite the sweary type. I forget what I was doing. I remember telling Syntax who much of a gentleman I was, and that I'm a polite little Englishman, and then I did something which made me unleash a string of swear words right in front of purpplegrrl.
Ginger chocolate! OMG I didn't know about that... must go find a shop selling it...
woo woo wasnt vegan festival wonderful!
i did look out for you all there but i hadnt seen many photos so it was kinda tricky!
am glad you got your falafel loki :)
hope y'all shiny and happy
lots of love xxx

I'm a northerner who lives in London. I still have a bit of accent, especially after a few beers ;)
There's no veggie shoe shop in London although I found a shoe shop on Neal Street in Covent Garden which had a selection of Vegetarian Shoes (from the people who own the shop in Brighton) but it wasn't a big selection really.
Other than that though it's dead easy being veggie in London. And it's certainly easier to be veggie now in general than it was when I first started out 12 years ago.

Yes, it's quite surprising really. And very annoying, as shoes are one of the few items that really have to be tried on to ensure they are comfortable and fit well.
The birkinstock shop, also on Neal Street does a vegan range as well, but not in the most appealing newer styles. :-/
By the way, good to see you all had a good time at the Manchester Festival - I'm very jealous!
So who is coming to the London one??!! We should start planning!
Apparently, i have a distinct northern accent.
I don't know if I'll be able to do the london one, as London is quite a distance to travel for me.
Make a weekend of it!! Just think of the falafels!!!!
'Tis one ofthose things I'll have to think about, but I doubt I'll be able to make it.
