Hm! I've been considering moving to the UK after graduation... rather than doing grad school in America. But after reading these recent posts... I'm a little discouraged. :( Hehe. Does anyone want to hire me?

From the latest Realfood Newsletter:-

"NWVegan Festival
So far we have over thirty organisations attending the festival, covering all aspects of the lifestyle, from ice cream, to shoes, to how to raise vegan kids. We have speakers, musicians, body builders, performers - all sorts going on, and more in the planning stages. So come along and enjoy yourself, and hopefully help to convert a few aspiring vegans on the day. The National Vegan Festival, organised by Robin and Alison (of Realfood) has always been an inspiring event, and it is about time we had some of that inspiration up North.

How can you help? Visit the website, and contact us for leaflets, posters etc to put up in your area.

At the moment we are looking for people to help on the day - in particular we would like to hear from people with entertainment skills for our Kidzone. Are you a storyteller, singer, puppeteer, juggler, face painter? If so then come along to our Kidzone and help to amuse the most important people in the room. And if you are a parent who wants to come along then please bring your kids with you.

Realfood is one of the UK's leading national vegan organizations.

That'd be me :hi:

I grew up and lived very near to Newcastle until a few years ago, when I moved to London :) I still have a lot of Geordie pride though, and my heart still belongs to the North!

If i ever move down south, I'll have a lot of northern pride, althoug hI doubt that having pride for blackpool would be a good idea - It's a sh*thole.

*Star*Lass*, I'm actually from Northumberland. If you follow the river Tyne west from Newcastle it flows through the little town I grew up in, about 20 mins drive away from the city. Think Ryton/Blaydon way :)

Everyone there speaks with a geordie accent, but if you go much further west the accents become quite posh.

BTW, I love your avatar!

I kinda noticed that this vegan festival in manchester is getting to be about a month away. (A couple of pages back.)

So, are we organising anything?

natalie

i should hope so. (saying that, im terrible at organising things!). I think the plan was that Veggcore and I could meet people at the train station...erm and thats about all thats been planned.

Any ideas why every avatar i have becomes blurry?? It ses max size is 100x100, but then it stretches it! Glad u like it tho! thnx :)

Hey all
In case other folk dont know, I just discovered that Boots sell a range of Vegan sandwiches! Well, the one in the centre of Manchester does anyway - the brand is 'Fresh! Gourmet Organics' (a green packet - marked 'vegan') and there were two choices - carrot, watercress and alfalfa sprouts w/ houmous, or houmous & roasted vegetables. Im eating the carrot one as i type and its lovely. So far ive found it impossible to buy premade/packet sandwiches that didnt have meat&dairy - well, besides the one at Pret a Manger. I know i should make my own at home to bring into work (and save money) but hey. Anyway, i shall shut up now. I shouldnt type with my mouth full.

I'll have to try them out. I'll see if the Boots in Blackpool stocks them!

Although, last time i wa sin Boots, I was looking att he atkins range, and seeing what goes into them. (Quite a lot of crap) I had some very evil stares from the security guards.

As do Starbucks. Well, it's just one, so that's not exactly a range, but it's humous and crunchy vegetables. Which is very tasty.

On the Manchester thing, it looks like I'll be flying in on Saturday morning (it's cheaper and quicker than the train - insert political commentry here), still to be confirmed.

I know my way around Manchester pretty damn well [0], so if there is anyone flying in on the morning who doesn't, we might be able to meet up at the airport, and travel in together. Not that it's tricky or anything, but might as well sort of thing.

I'll probably be getting the train from blackpool. (It's about £10 return) I don't know my way around manchester though.
