Thanks for that Tropikiwi!

I went there this afternoon, they didn't have a huge range at the one I went to but I got shampoo, conditioner and a body butter, and my sister got a face mask and scrub. So cheap and nice!

Soooo many people shopping though, ick!

Also, my sister got these jube like starburst lollies(called tropicana or something), not totally sure if they are vegan cause they have unidentified "flavours" but they had no gelatine, or e120 or anything!

Did anyone see Eating Media Lunch the other night, where they slaughtered a sheep? My friend thought it was shrek so she became vegetarian. It's just sad that it took something like that to make up her mind.

I didn't watch it! I've never watched it actually.. I've wanted to but I've ALWAYS forgotten. I love Jeremy Wells, and by the looks of it (minus the sheep incident) it is something that would appeal to me (although, I have heard comments that would suggest otherwise).

I read about the Shrek thing on another message board, and someone said that they thought it was stupid that so many people were complaining, and that they wouldn't complain as much if it were just a nameless sheep. I guess they have a point, but some other people said that the only problem that there was with it was that it was televised..

I was watching somethine else and flipped it over just in time to see a dead sheep hanging up with lots of blood :(

Didn't realise it was supposed to be Shrek at the time. I don't see how people can see things like that and still want to eat sheep, ewwww.

awww this thread seems to have died. :(
So anyone found any great veggie stuff lately?
I am addicted to darrel lea strawberry licorice :)

Lol, that licorice sounds good...I'll have to look for it. I like Kingland soy-yoghurts, they are good, especially strawberry. Just a random question for you vegans..what bread do you buy?

I haven't found any new veggie products for ages, but yeah I love that darrel lea licorice! and King land yoghurt, except some flavours seem to be really runny sometimes and I like it much better when it's thick!

I usually get molenberg bread, or if they don't have that then a white one I think by Quality bakers or something, I should really find out if any more are vegan cause it gets a bit boring eating the same ones all time!

I just made some vegan afghan biscuits, haven't had any in years but had a craving, so fatty and good!

I am thinking of trying this:

Has anyone tried it?
Any ideas on subsitutions for the eggs?

That looks good but I haven't tried it. Orgran No Egg is the egg replacer I use, found it in Pak 'n' Save.

I use Orgran No Egg as well, seems to work ok in most things.

It's so freezing here at the moment!! Has anyone had lots of snow? It looks so cool on the news! wish we had some here although it would be annoying after a while!
Doesn't look so good for some of the farm animals though :(

Tropikiwi

Yeah its fricken freezing!
I remember seeing something on the news recently about a woman complaining about sheep that had been shorn in the winter.
Poor sheep :(

I hadn't heard of this egg replacer, I will have to look for it. What section do they put it in?

woodentree

It definitely is freezing, where I am anyway. We had snow, it's so exciting when it snows here in Christchurch because it rarely happens. It didn't last too long though.

I don't remember...I think it's in the same isle as the baking stuff...but I've also seen it at bin-inn in the "gluten free" section.

I didn't know we had it here! I'll keep a look out for it :)
It's quite cool having snow, since it's not a regular thing here. I don't like that it's not very safe to drive in though :)

Do any of you take vitamins?
If so, which ones? :juggle:

woodentree

I've started taking iron melts for B12, but nothing else. I have a question about Freemans. I have an old bottle of face scrub and it says "contains no animal extracts" but it doesn't say that on the products they have now....does anyone know if their stuff is vegan? I asked the lady at the chemist and she basically laughed at me, that horrible uninformed meany.

I just got some vitamins, they are called "Women's multi-plus" by Good Health, I have been eating like crap lately and my skin has been really bad so *hopefully* the vitamins will help since i'm not really eating a balanced diet at the moment.
Make sure whatever vitamins you get are vegetarian though, I read somewhere recently that they use cow's bones in some supplements, and of course lots are coated in gelatine, ewwwwwww!

I think someone posted a thread a while back saying all freeman products are vegan, not sure why they don't say it on the containers cause all the Totally Nutty/Juicy products, which are the same company say on the packaging that they are not tested on animals/no animal ingredients.
Mean chemist lady! I try and avoid asking people if things are vegan cause they usually have no clue what you are talking about, especially non-food items!

Thanks Pinkpunch :) It's good that there are some good affordable vegan products, cosmetics in health shops cost a ridiculous amount.

I went to pak n save but didn't see the egg replacer :(
What does it look like?

I only know that I read on here that Freeman's is vegan.

It's in a yellow and red cardboard box and it says Orgran No Egg on it. That's about as good as I can explain it. Oh, it also has pictures of quiches and other baked stuff on the front.
