Oh yeah same here.. But still I lose track of whats summative and whats formative...
Hahah it's organic chemistry, and only 2 classes from my school get to do it.. I'd prefer not to do it!!!!
Have your exams started yet??
Oh right I get what ya mean :)
Organic Chemistry is really hard, level 2 anyway. I never did level 1 :)
Umm, like like I said I had maths. Plus I had Biology on Monday and English Tuesday. So all I have is Chemistry on Monday and Home Economics on next Thursday :)
I should go now, otherwise I can see myself sitting here all day, lol. I have to start some study. I'll check the board later on anyway :)
Nice talking to ya :vebo:

How is New Zealand as a place to live? Is it as beautiful as it is in the LOTR movies? Cause it looks phoenominal. Looks great in "Babe" too. I'd love to visit, but it's so expensive to get to and so darn far away from NYC.
Is it veggie friendly?
Do you have universal healthcare and education? (like all great countries should, but somehow the US is still stuck in the middle ages as far as that's concerned. Damn special interest groups!)

Yup NZ's a great place to live. And weirdly enough it does look like the lotr movies.. I love watching them and you can just see that it is NZ!
Hey wow was babe filmed here? weird.
universal healthcare and education - I dont know what that means! So I dunno! But probably!

I think I must be one of the only people who haven't seen LOTR!lol I keep meaning to get it out on DVD but never quite get around to it, but yip from the trailers etc lots of it looks like some palces here.
Yeah, NYC sure it far away, I'd love to visit there, or anywhere in the US for that matter one day!
I think "Babe" was actually filmed in Australia.
Not all areas of Healthcare and education are universal, it seems to be getting better in some areas and worse in others, but from what i've seen overall it is more easily accessible for more people compared to the US.
It's getting more and more vegetarian friendly here, dairy and meat are big export earners though and it is still a long way off being vegan friendly!

Don't worry I've only seen the first one pinkpunch! :)
Basically I have nothing else to add, I'm in agreement with Danny and Pinkpunch :)
You should have a LOTR marathon with Fellowship and Two Towers. Believe me, after the Fellowship, you'll want to see more of it right away. Get some food and drinks and cozy up for the best 6 hours of entertainment you'll have all year!
Well I saw the second one the other night! I'm gonna hopefully see the third one soon, I don't want to miss it at theatres :)

woohoo an NZ thread! :bobo: :vebo:
So what veggie products do you like? :hungry:
I haven't seen any of the LOTR's movies either :sheep:
Hey Tropikiwi! :) What's your name, and whereabouts do you live?
I'm Nicky and I live in Christchurch. These topics are quite cool to post in and meet others that live in your area. My favourite veggie foods are tofu and falafel :lick:

Hey my name is Nadia and I live in Palmerston North
Do you make the falafel yourself or buy it?
I like the vege products by longa life notbacon, vege lunchen and vege sausages. I think they have fake chicken too. Do you buy these? they are a bit pricey :(
Do you drink soy milk? I wanna go more vegan like so I bought some so good. I got chocolate and vanilla flavours. I haven't actually tried them yet, gotta be brave :p
What about those vege products in a can by sanatarium? They have nut meat etc. Any experience with them?
I am hoping to find out about more great vege foods

Hi Nadia!
I'm from Wellington, such bad weather at the moment!! Did you get it very bad? Looks like it hasn't been very nice all over!!
I do like the longalife sausages and buy them quite often, i'm a vegan so i've never had the bacon, I think I tried the luncheon once and didn't really like it, but yeah they are so expensive!!
I usually use So Good Lite for cereal and baking etc and I like the flavoured ones to drink, they will probably take a while to get use to but i've been drinking them for a few years and they just seem normal to me now!
I have tried most of the canned products, but not for a while, some of them look a bit like cat food or something so are a bit off-putting.lol but I like the lentils and the rediburger(I think that's what it's called).

vegan cool :)
I am trying to move in that direction.
what cereal do you get?
Is it fortified? I am thinking that would be good.
What was it lack of that killed that baby?
can you recommend any other good food?
I really think I need a meal plan coz usually I just don't have a clue what to eat. Then I end up eating junk :(
Maybe I should make a seperate post about this in the appropriate forum
It was lack of everything that killed the baby (Caleb?), but mostly B12. That was a horrible case, and then the media made out that it was veganism that killed him, rather than religious fanaticism.
The problem with food plans taken off this site (no offense to anyone) is that they are based on the kinds of food you can get in North America. They have lots of products that we don't - seitan, vegan sour cream, fake cheese in a whole range of varieties etc.
Vegans generally don't get enough B12 as it is found mostly in dairy products. Marmite has it, so does Vecon vege stock. You can also get B vitamins as pills, but you need to check whether they have B12 in them too, as some only have the others.
I get a B12 injection every so often - I'm meant to get them monthly, but am a bit crap at being organised.
In terms of shop-bought stuff, we get vege sausages (I can't remember the brand but not the ones with the plastic skins on), Kingland soy yoghurts, Litelicks, occasional tofu luncheon (my kids call it tofu dogroll), plus tofu and tempeh. We use tinned chili beans for nachos (Craigs are much nicer than Watties) if I run out of time to cook beans myself. We use vitasoy rather than so goos, but that's just personal preference.
All soy milk tastes weird until you get used to it.
Bought felafel is never as good as homemade!
Pinkpunch - which bit of Wellington? I'm in Newtown.

Tropikiwi, I eat weetbix for cereal, lots of people don't like it though! It has some added vitamins/minerals I think.
I don't worry too much about B12 because I eat lots of marmite and also So Good apparently has 50% RDI per 250ml.
This (http://www.nutmeg.gen.nz/veggie/) blog has some NZ products, it's an Auckland one though and might not be available all over.(Look at the supermarket finds).
If you go to the Wellington Vegetarian Society (http://vegsoc.wellington.net.nz/veg_home.htm) and look at some of the back newsletters there are a few products also.
I like the kingland soy yogurts too, they also just started selling a vegan cheese here but it's expensive(over $8 for about 100g) so not something you would want to buy too often!
If you are looking for a cookbook, one I use often is "Meals Without Meat" by Simon & Alison Holst, it's not completely vegan but quite a few of the dishes are.
Ana - I am in Aro Valley. Do you go to Aunt Mena's vegetarian restaurant? I love everything there, it is definately one of my favourite restaurants!

On Wednesday I had a patient, omni, drinking lots of milk, becaus she thinks, it would do good against osteoporosis, but in fact she has vitamin B12 defieciency. And itīs not pernicious anemia! Iīm quite surprised, thatīs not only vegans but everyone can get vitamin B12 defiency.

Hi Nadia :hi:
I've never made falafel myself, I bought it premade a while ago and fried it, but it didn't taste too good, so I definately prefer falafel from a kebab house or something like that. I've never had longalife products! I've never seen them around, they sound good though, I might keeps my eyes peeled for them. I prefer smooties when drinking soy milk, especially the ones by sanatarium, I prefer them to cows milk. As for the So Goods, I've taste strawberry and I've got vanilla in the fridge at the moment, but I'm not really into them, I'll just keep trying. I'd definately recommend the So Good smoothies to you, I haven't found them in the shops lately, they used to have wild berry and banana was fantastic, I hope they are still selling them :lick:

I forgot about the So Good smoothies, I prefer them to the milks too, it's so annoying though cause none of the supermarkets nearby sell them. I only know of one place that does and it's bit of a pain to get to!
And yeah, it's not just veggies that can have B12 defieciency, my dad did a while back and he is a meat-eater!
Ana - I am in Aro Valley. Do you go to Aunt Mena's vegetarian restaurant? I love everything there, it is definately one of my favourite restaurants!
Yay for Auntie Mena's! Did you do what i did and the first few times go "are you absolutely sure this is vegan" because it tasted so much like it wasn't?
I am addicted to their assam laksa. It's bizarre - I get so sick of going to places where there is only one (if that) vegan option or having to ask for something special, that when there is finally somewhere i can eat most of the menu i end up having the same thing every time I go! Must try something new next time i go.
