Hey fellow Kiwis. :nana:
Just thought that I would post here to let people know that i'm from the southern-most country [apart from antarctica...which is a continent anyway] in the world.
I'm from the busy, disgusting, polluted city of Auckland...which I am eager to move out of! Anyway...thats all
What do people think of using the more inclusive title 'Aotearoa/New Zealand' for this thread?

Yeah - As an Australian, I much prefer 'Land Of The Long White Shroud' to 'New Zealand' :D

 You ever been over here Bof :stinkeye:
Come to think of it , the racist term on how to view the European was
'The land of the wrong white crowd" .

Ok Cheers! I feel blonde for posting now seeing as so many people told me about the bluebird cafe already :o But in my defence I had actually already called several cafes (Logos, Verona and Revel).
Might also try the North Shore Cake company, as I live on the North Shore anyway.
Thanks again for your help.
Just out of interest , did you score a cake in the end , if so , who from , how much , and what was it like .

Yes. We thought of moving there when we first came to Oz.
(We had friends from Wales who'd moved to Balclutha).
Yuss, I am in NZ also!

Actually Balclutha is an amazing part of the country , there could be similarities to Wales
Still I think Aussie is a great country ...but I wouldn't tell to many Aussies that .

Oh , I'm in the Waikato and sometimes in Auckland . I see they are thinking of changing the Grandparent law in the UK anyway . I remember Palmy as a slack place to eat Vegetarian wise , only Sanitarium in Church St ....has it got any better?
Oh ok. Oh yeah, it is really slack vegetarian and or vegan wise. When I grow up I will set up my special cafe though so I hope to change that... if I ever end up back here that is! Is it any better where you are?

I ended up baking my own! I called them all, but only the place in Devonport and the place on Dominion road (Bluebird cafe) would do them. The place in Devonport was much to expensive (about $120 I think) because they really only do do specialty cakes (weddings etc.) and Bluebird cafe needed more than a few days notice. So I ended up making the Wacky Chocolate cake recipe and it worked fine!
Hey! Has anyone else heard about the following:
Come and join “Compassionate Steps : Walk for the Animals’” across Napier town centre on the 19th of April. The march will culminate at Napier’s Soundshell where there will be speakers, stalls, music and vegan food - to highlight the plight of the VARC beagles and demand a ban on scientific research using cats and dogs.
All animal lovers and their families, including the family pooch, are encouraged to join in on the walk! Guest speaker Green MP Sue Kedgley will speak of the secrecy of animal research in New Zealand. SAFE has called on the Minister responsible for animal welfare to place an immediate moratorium on all current beagle research and is demanding a ban on the use of companion animals for research purposes.
STARTS 1pm, Saturday, 19 April 2008 at the Soundshell, Marine Parade, Napier. See you there! There will be a free concert after the walk.

Drunken KFC was the first hit.. then yeah just things I wanted to see what they tasted like.. everything has been really disappointing so far though (except fish and chips) I don't eat much meat though. Living with 2 non-veg flatmates and my non-veg boyfriend.. all of whom have never complained or anything.. but sometimes I knew itd just be easier if we could all eat the same..
Pretty weak excuse I know.. but oh well
