Well , weird is normal , here on the boards , so yuh should fit in well . Haven't been up your way of late . But have been to Hamilton , they have the coolest vegan restaurant you have ever been to there , amazing people that run it .

Oh I have been there, but haven't tried the burger ,all the food is so damn good there

Mm I know all the food is so good.. but the veggie burger.. BEST BURGER I'VE EVER had. Meat or non meat!! (i used to LOVE meat)

After googling I think it's 158 high St, it's a tiny little place in a kind of tiny shopping centre ( i think theres like 4 shops there). It's more snack food than anything else but the muffins and burger they had were really good and the staff were lovely, even gave me recipes for some of the stuff.

I think The Lotus-Heart is the best vegetarian cafe-restaurant in Christchurch, in fact the best I experienced in my travels around New Zealand. I tried all the vegetarian places in Christchurch while I was there, but ended up going to The Lotus-Heart every day because it was so good with too many yummy options to try everything. On Friday nights they have an international platter that changes every week - absolutely fab! I love the burger platter too! Prices are quite reasonable for those of us travelling on a shoestring. Lovely staff with genuinely nice, friendly service.

Very excited to find this board and now this thread.
I'm a kiwi too but I'm currently living in the states.
I've been here for 5 years in January so DAMMIT I'm coming home to visit next year!

(grew up in a ditch near Hamilton, lived in Wellywood for a spell and also in Dunners....family scattered everywhere so I've spent time in Auckland, Christchurch and the BOP as well)

Lotus heart is moving to above star bucks in the square and its going to be open more hours and much bigger (if I was listening to the woman properly).

If you're in chch you need to go.. and you need to get the Humming burger. I'm drooling thinking about it..


Oh and there's a coupon for a 2 for 1 meal at the front of the yellow pages.. I felt like I was ripping them off haha

Ok Cheers! I feel blonde for posting now seeing as so many people told me about the bluebird cafe already :o But in my defence I had actually already called several cafes (Logos, Verona and Revel).

Might also try the North Shore Cake company, as I live on the North Shore anyway.
