Hello to those of you in Melbourne!
My mum is taking me on a holiday to Melbourne for a week! Yay! I would love to take her out to a Vegan restaurant for dinner one night, to show her what 'true' vegan food tastes like. I thought you guys might have some suggestions..? I have searched the internet and found about 5 different restaurants (Lentil as Anything, The White Lotus Vegan, Shakahari Vegetarian etc.). but thought it would be great to hear from some locals as to what they recommend?

Also- is there anything else that is must do whilst we are in Melbourne?

im not a local but i visit melbourne every few weeks and one place i always visit with my partner is soul mama in st kilda cuz its definitely a favourite of both of ours. vego2go we like too, thats an italian cafe in lygon st. the white lotus is a good place with lots of options, but the food is too bland for our tastes, so we tend to avoid it.

we always visit the market in st kilda and the botanic gdns. our main reason for going to melbourne is for the clubbing, so we dont really get into the touristy thing much. maybe the locals would have some better suggestions for you :)

I am having difficulty getting Channel 10. Does anyone know anything about antenna and getting good TV reception? I just bought a set top box for digital and want clear reception. It's not exactly urgent, it's not like I watch much TV, and hardly any 10, but still, I'd like it there as an option. And I do watch House.

Oh nice!! :D I hope you have fun, Kiz!! I need to go up there more often... considering I'm not far away at all. hehe. Sounds like it's gonna be freezing as hell up there tomorrow. :sunny::sunny:

Just in case anyone is:
a) the owner of an animal costume
b) interested in animal liberation...

I received this in my email from AL recently:
"Parade- please meet at katoomba public school warata st Katoomba 10.30-11am
Wear- Animal themed costumes eg. cat, fish, pigs, bunnies, cows etc we'll have a few Animal Liberation banners to hold + some of our fabulous musicians will be drumming so we will stand out, the idea is to show our community there is a voice for Animals in a friendly + welcoming way."

A fish costume...?

Also, on a random note, I don't like eating eggs. Avoid them as much as I can, but I wonder if anyone can recommend "the lesser evil" of supermarket sold eggs? I want to try to sway friends into buying decent eggs. I get the impression Ecoeggs aren't terrible...but seriously, what would I know. Any input would be great...

Kristen! Mate!!!! :sunny: hehehehe. :hamster: I wanted to go up there for that (even though I don't own an animal costume haha) but I have to save my money for monday, so I can get to Blacktown. :( lol. Are you going? :D

My brother went up there for it though... him & his girlfriend are gonna go (his gf only lives at leura so they might as well hehe).

My mum only purchases the RSPCA approved eggs. :)

RSPCA stuff I would go for, except that I'm a bit put off when they are behind PACE farms 'free range', whilst PACE also have battery hens. I'm living in the hope that there's some awesome egg producer who only slightly treats his hens like crap, not entirely. [Huge generalisation there!] Thank you for the link!

Leura...gorgeous! I went all around those areas a lot during uni [I was at Richmond, we affectionately called it the 'arse end of the earth' becuase it required 3 hours travel each way, to get there :'( ]. I didn't go. I had to work in the restaurant tonight. Unfortunately we had little cards with information regarding our specials, so I couldn't withhold it from customers that veal was an option. D'oh! I hope they got a good turn out at the festival.
