Hey, did I hear the mention of Mother Chu's? We used to go there nearly every week when my fiance lived in Pitt street just down the road from there. These days though, we probably visit Green Gourmet at St Leonards more often, as it's on this side of the bridge and easy to find parking close by. although they don't seem to do the deep fried tofu ice cream as well as they do at Newtown.
But at Mother Chu's I love getting the sizzling gluten. Especially with the loud sizzle steam flying all over the place. Everyone always looks around to see what all the noise is. That's the fun part.

I went to St. Leonard's TAFE last year (evenings) and wanted to try GG, but my hours prevented eating there.

Zenergy is also great..it's on Druitt St, near Queen Vic but it's more of a lunchtime place.
Oh and in Mid City Centre in Pitt St Mall (next to Subway) they sell vegan muffins, but they are really dry and tasteless.

Glenda have you tried the Kaavery at Pendle Hill yet? We went there again on Monday night *orgasms and falls over*

Which Sydneysiders are going to the Vegans Unite thing on Saturday? Are you going GoodWitch? Because then we could discuss a Western Suburbs Animal Liberation group. I have started on it, but I've also been taking on other "tasks" (I need to employ a personal assistant).
Unfortunately I cannot go as I have to have surgery today [minor] and will be out of action for the weekend at least.... :worried:
Hopefully I can join you with your Animal Lib group after this!

NO! I haven't been out to dinner for a while. I'll have to check it out sometime soon though.

Hiya Kiz,
what has been going on? Have not seen you for awhile.
Hey Joshinoz, same old, same old. Nice sig, btw.
We went to go to a place at Campsie last night called Evergreen. But it wasn't there. Instead there was just what looked like a normal Chinese restaurant. Anyone in Sydney know what happened to that place?

I know a Chinese resteraunt called Evergreen in Erskine Park, but it's quite non-vego friendly. Don't know avbout yours sorry!
Iceflower, I guess Evergreen must be a popular name for Chinese restaurants! I just copied the address from here.. (Arghh, I can't post URL's until I've made 10 posts on this board!..sorry.. It's the vegan society website BTW) But I'm guessing the page I checked there must quite old and they probably haven't bothered updating it for a while.

Oh and not that many of you probably eat at KFC, but I thought I should warn everyone in case. DO NOT EAT POTATO AND GRAVY FROM THE RESTAURANTS! I had some from my store, because from what the ingredients say, its vegetarian. But the resteraunts cook their own gravy, and they add chicken leftovers to it. The food courts use instant however, so thats okay.
Hi everybody,
Is Olive Grove margarine vegan? I'm in China and can't read all the ingredients... :) Figured that someone here should know, since it says it's an Australian product.
Cheers,
Jari
Nope..unfortunately Olive grove contains whey
Can anyone recomend a good vegan multi?
I'm really looking to cover B12, Omega 3, Calcium, Creatine, Taurine & Carnatine.
Ethically I'm all vegan...but I'm starting to think vegetarian diets are healthier than vegan??? I hate milk and eggs anyway ... but should I be eating a little bit of cheese a day??? what if I can find some lovelly farmer who loves his cows and makes his own cheese? Am I just dreaming?
You are dreaming. No, you don't need cheese everyday. Yes, it's easy to be a healthy vegan. There are heaps of threads all over VB on vegan nutrition, I don't take multi-vitamins myself so I can't really recomment a good one, but all of those nutrients, except agrueably b12, and easily be derived from your diet.
lol thanks Kiz...not sure what I was thinking...lets put it donw to temporary insanity

I am a vegan too, and sometimes I feel that way, especially when I crave yoghurt. I always end up eating something high calcium like figs or broccoli and it goes away
I was reading the latest Green Guide [T.V guide] yesterday and next Thursday 31st theres a documentary on SBS following the life of a factory farmed pig from birth to slaughter. The review said "the result is more powerful and confronting than if the most passionate animal liberationist manned the microphone." Its called Piggy: 110 kilos in 25 weeks. I'm not sure if I should watch it considering the emotional states I get into regarding such matters, but curiosity always gets the better of me though I often end up regretting reading/watching such things and apparently this documentary spares you nothing. Hopefully though some omnivores will be converted though generally people will choose to avoid anything that challenges their lifestyles and comforts in anyway and makes them at all squirmish about it.

We rarely get watchable SBS reception here. I dunno that I'd be able to watch it anyway.
It sucks they don't put programs like that on the commercial channels. Although I guess the meat industry with all their crappy ads would put a stop to that considering their advertising helps keep commercial stations running.
Hmmm, I'm wondering how we could get ads promoting vegan or pure vegetarian diets on tv? Who would fund such a commercial? The fruit and veg industry perhaps?

I believe there has been a pro-veg*n ad on TV. Possibly even an AR one.
