I noticed you were talking about good veggie restaurants but I don't think anyone mentioned soul mama! Its in the St. Kilda sea baths complex if you melburnians are interested.
I have been to soulmama twice - the first time I thought it was amazing - the second time I thought it was revolting

Good on you - I am studying Primary Education at Melbourne Uni
Thats great! What year are you?
My animated gif avatar got the boot  Apparantly animated avatars aren't allowed here, even though it's the correct size, a small file etc. I feel like I'm being discriminated against, especially when there's all these animated smilies that can be added to posts. Why aren't they banned aswell?

Yet another proud owner of a black & white cat!
Our Kitti, "the tuxedo cat" could join the club?
See here (http://www.sippala.net/timo/singapore/kitty/pics/oneggs.jpg)
Yeah, I've only been to soul mama twice and both times I enjoyed it, though first time was the best. I guess cos they always have a different menu.
Whoever mentioned lentil as anything - japanese stir fry and morrocan hot pot is really yum. Though its kinda crap to hang out in with your friends cos its so cramped.

jAded, I haven't seen that ad but have heard about it. It never ceases to amaze me that many people think it's ok to knock vegetarians / the vegetarian way of life etc.
Avene, my bunnies are doing well, although we've stopped rescuing any more at this point due to a variety of reasons. Remember Sunny the flemish giant who we lost on New Years Eve not last year but the year before ? Well we have another rescued flemish giant now named Elmo living inside. He is grey and has attitude plus!

Umm, I also put this in the cereal/soymilk thread, but it might be better to ask this here...
Does anyone here know of Norganic Crunchola cereal? It comes in Apple Cinnamon and Apple Blueberry flavours. I haven't bought it for around a year or so since it started stating that it may contain traces of milk in it. Is it really unvegan to buy it, if it says that?

I think thats mostly to cover their asses in case 0.000000015 of milk gets in there and someone with an allergy wants to sue them. I wouldn't worry about tiny risks of trace elements. I count it as vegan.

There is one place in Melbourne if you want some serious fun vegan food - Pronto Brontos. Robert (my omnivore boyfriend) and I went there for dinner tonight and now we are unable to move LOL . We each had:
- a burger
- fries
- salad
- 1/2 mini chocolate mud cake
- 1/2 a blueberry muffin
- 2 chocolate chip cookies
I have not had food like that since being vegan. It was truly amazing. The choc cake and cookies were unbelievable! I have been DYING for cookies for the whole time I have been vegan and now my prayers have been answered. I put in a request for the making of white chocolate cookies...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
*drools  eventhough still disgustingly full!

^^^ Oh yum! The samosas look great!
They have HEAPS of instant foods - perfect for us lazy vegans. Oh! And a cheesy pizza made with cheese that comes from non animal origins! Pity the 'where to get' page isn't running yet.

Poor form IMHO.
Just a reply to your post directed at me about BDO tix. I just wanted to say that I have worked in the music industry/been around the music industry for a long time. I understand your comments. I got 4 free tickets and gave away two tickets to friends - then sold two cheap (half price - when other people were standing at the gates selling tickets for big bucks) to get some beer money. As I had free VIP tickets and knew no-one else in Melbourne to give the normal tickets I had to (not my city) they would have got thrown away. Scalpers on ebay were selling them for $300+ . The guy who gave them to me is a tour manager of the Big Day Out - they were going in the bin otherwise as he had about 30 tickets left over from a band allocation.
I also asked if he minded me selling my tix for no profit. He was fine with it. I am NOT a scalper. I hate people who buy lots of tickets to events then sell them on ebay or at the gate for profit.
Hope you understand my reasons. That's why I posted here - I would rather someone I knew or liked get them for cheap or free rather than they go to waste. :)

I saw Des at BDO. nyah nyah. :p It was all right, but I was really ticked that we couldn't take our drinks outside the corrugated steel areas - which were basically like sweathouses. I dunno, think I'll skip it next year unless there's someone i'm dying to see (errrr, like system of a down :smitten: ). homebake was SO much better!
it's warm today. But not too bad.
oh yah and hi to the n00bs. :hi: I'm in Newtown & will have been in AU a year come mid-may. loooooooove it here. don't wanna go back. don't make me! :tantrum:

You know one thing i wish we could get here, though, is iced coffee. Not the milkshake stuff, but brewed coffee on ice (yeah it melts the ice a bit but you just use strong coffee and heaps of ice and it stays cold). I have never seen it here. I can't get an iced mocha or an iced americano (long black). well maybe in starbucks but not in most places. what a bummer. i loooove those in the summertime.
