being a 'furry' - ewwwww
Trust me, the entire board would have gone off at you for that comment. It’s like the Vegan = extremist thing. Some are, most are not. From what I could gather, anything to do with anthropomorphism is furry.
(that and the whole damn board was full of artists . . . damn artists . . . . )

I tend to think of people getting dressed up in furry animal suits and making out when I think of furries. Maybe i am a bit predjudiced but anthropomorphism is just not my thing.

Welcome back Alpaca Slacker or have you been working away?.. (I dont know).
"Furries" are humanimal creatures people draw (often perverse but I would guess harmless if taken on merits of just art) and thats it as far as I know. Anthropomorphicness is bound to come into play in some way, even if only visually by what you see drawn by "Furry" artists and animal distortion or adaption and affection given to them seem to be the key elements in making furry art. Whether all(?) artists who draw furries
intend anthropmorphism and what specific sort I don't know. There does
not seem like there are many rules applied to furry concepts concerning
the obvious aspect of anthro that many of us will read into it..

<<<< spent too much time hanging around weird fetish sites back in the old days when the internet was new to me (about 6 years now) :D
But hey, who didn't

Isn't that what it's all about?

Nope. When I was at a furry boards (www.furtopia.org/) they went to great lengths to prove that ‘the fandom’ is much more then the media portrays it as. VegAnaconda has it about right, just a lot of artists who like animals and anthropomorphic artwork. ‘Fursuiting’ seems to be a smaller sub-division of the furry community. They seemed OK to me.
Hehehe ‘Alpaca Slacker’ . . . . .
Oooohh... I never knew. The only furries I have come across are either into furry erotic art, or at some place called Furcadia. I kept getting asked for cybersex in Furcadia, only they called it "yiffing".

Anyway, welcome back TAG and (rather belated) Kurm -- it's good to see you both back! :D

Interesting fact, they call it ‘yiff’ because that’s meant to be the sound a matting vixen makes.
I’m just sure you had to know that :D

Not in VIC but am going to Melbourne on the 29th Jan for the Big Day Out and System Of A Down sideshows. I'll be staying for a few days, so let me know how good this place is. Actually - where are a couple of good veggie places in Melbourne?

Amy - cool! I thought you were in Sydney??? I've been going to the Gold Coast BDO for about ten years and decided I wanted to go to Melbourne this time :) I love Melbourne - wish my family would all move there so I could happily live there and not be too lonely :D
Would love to catch up - I'll PM you closer to when we are going - dinner at a really nice veg place sounds fantastic. There is only one really nice veg restaurant in Brisbane that i know of - there are a few others, but none as yummy (or expensive:() as squirrels. So I hardly ever get to eat out at a completely veg restaurant.

I do live in sydney :D I've got some friends in Melbourne I've been needing to go visit, and when one (a vegan!) mentioned that she wanted to go to BDO, DH and I figured it was a good time to go. So we're all going to BDO in Melbourne together. should be a good time :D

Hi, I'm Katze, I'm from Melbourne. I've been lurking for a while, but haven't posted before.

I've already been to Pronto Brontos a couple of times. It's not too far from where I live.
It's great. I even took an omni friend there last last week, who was very, very impressed.
i went twice to PB's in the first week and took advantage of the 2 for 1 burger deal (one of those times alone so yeah, i gutsed two burgers myself.) i'm wondering what my VIP card entitles me to.
i'm in melb too.
not going to BDO but live around the corner so i'll definitely hear it anyway.

Cool! There seem to be a few of us who live in/will be in Melbourne around that time. I'll post closer to the time, and whoever would like to meet up for dinner is very welcome :D
I'm liking the sound of Veg Orgasm - how could you go wrong with a name like that!

I miss Melbourne (although I was only there for a couple of weeks in 1997 then 1998, but I really liked that city).

I love Melbourne. If my family/friends and job weren't all in QLD I would move there in a flash - love the weather too. *sitting here sweating*

If I moved to Melbourne I'd be worried about eventually getting sick of it like I am of Sydney (but then it's more because of the State Government here; Sydney could be a lot better without it).
