Does anyone know what nutritional yeast is called here? I have asked in health food shops and they say there is brewers yeast or bakers yeast.

The woman also told me that nutritional yeast takes nutrients out of your body???

I tried searching this thread but didn't have much luck - can anyone recommend a vegan margarine that is suitable for baking? Most of the vegan margarines I'm finding are rather soft, and I worry that they have a water content that is too high for baking stuff like biscuits, cakes, etc.

:help:

Sorry - I use nuttelex which is very soft. I am a terrible cook and cannot remember EVER making biscuits or cake from scratch in my life.

Another nutritional yeast question - I have bought the savoury yeast flakes, but do I use the same quantity? They are expensive - $7.90 for 100grams! If a recipe here asks for 1 cup nutritional yeast is that the same as a cup of savoury yeast flakes????

<<<<< hopeless in the kitchen

I have returned! I missed you guys! I went off and took a break from message boards, then checked out a few non-veg ones. (I learnt what being a ‘furry’ meant . . . that was interesting.)
So that’s what I’ve been up to. Yes. :|

I’m surprised to see Kurm back. He seemed determined to not return to VB . . . what happened, got bored? Heheh . . . .

Due to budget cuts there aren't enough officers to go around, so I got reassigned (I am familiar with a lot of the wishy-washy vegan justifications around here, too).
