People that fell for his interest-rates scare tactics.

Maybe we can battle it out for the next 3 years and fix things in 2007 (if not too damaged).

I couldn't quite believe it when Howard was re-elected at the previous election, never mind this time around :dizzy:

gotta look on the positive side though, by 2007, Costello will no doubt have made such a dipstick of himself, that it'll be many years before the Libs get back in again.

It's the selfish greedy attitude of "No way am I voting for Labour, they might lead to a rise in interest rates - who cares about the environment, education, health or industrial policies - I don't wanna pay an extra few bucks a week and if theres a chance of that under Labour - no way."

The goddamn interest rates would have been lower under either government - Howard has ridden a wave of economic change which would have happenned had either government been in control. The rates will go up under either government too - hope all the as*holes who voted him in on the interest rate thing get stung in the next rise.

I had three hopes:

Brisbane Lions to lose
John Howard to lose
George W Bush to lose

Help me John Kerry, you're my only hope!

URGENT HELP NEEDED FOR LABORATORY RATS
(An appeal from World League for Protection of Animals)

The fate of most animals used and abused in research is death. But recently
at a couple of institutions a 're-homing policy' has been implemented to
save the lives of those animals whose deaths are not required for the
research. These animals are in the minority (most are too badly damaged or
traumatised and some are required for dissection), but are currently being
'disposed' of after their short tragic lives are no longer of interest.

The World League has been contacted by an institution to assist in the
re-homing of 30 laboratory rats. We have been involved in re-homing 60 of
these animals before, and they are so special and wonderful. Their capacity
to forgive and heal is inspirational.

The problem is working within the guidelines of the people who have
absolutely no comprehension of the importance and value of each life - no
matter how small. Due to the institutions
insurance the rats can only be re-homed to individuals (not an
organisation), and a maximum of four rats per person. Unfortunately the time
already wasted on their bureaucracy has
meant that the rats must be re-homed in 3 weeks or they will be (as
countless others have been) disposed of 'humanely'.

These rats are all male, 6 months old and are white/brown hooded. They need
to go in pairs for companionship as they are highly social animals. They
have also been kept in pairs during the research and so have formed strong
bonds with their partners.

Each person adopting a pair of rats will receive:
a rat health care book
a note book on rat behaviour, care & diet
a weeks worth of healthy rat food
an enclosure

These rats NEED OUR HELP!!! Please consider adopting a pair, or even
temporarily fostering some. For all the misery and pain they have been
through - they need and deserve a second
chance at life.

Please email WLPA on info@wlpa.org or call their office on (02) 9817 4892 or
after hours on (02) 9817 5739.

Did anyone go to the cruelty free lifestyle expo yesterday? That was good fun! Though I was on my own, so it was a bit lonely. :(

I want to go to world vegan day... but I don't feel like being a loner again. Would anyone from veggieboards like to befriend me?

Yeah I was there for a few hours in the avo. Hard not to notice a lot of healthy good looking people. Maybe I'll join that race one day.

I reckon Sunday will be fun. We will be encouraging people to wear name tags and make new friends. Just say hi to the volunteers and take it from there.

This has all been quite new to me. And I was on my own too. But thanks to OregonAmy (I think), who pointed out VNV (http://www.vnv.org.au) to me, I emailed them and already I feel like a regular. It's been an exciting time for me and the Melbourne community has been great.

Well... Howard's government has control of the Senate, giving it the opportunity to implement all of its ideals, which it "will do in the interests of all Australians" (even those against such ideals).
