I heard about this on another message board actually... Don't remember which one.
Anyway, this is apparently how the story goes.
The people who supplied nuttelex with vitamin D assured them that it wasn't animal based. however, apparently nuttelex got word that it was, and confronted them. When pressed, the supplier admitted that it was an animal based vitamin D.
So Nuttelex said Byebye to them, and looked for another vegan source. They found it and nuttelex will be vegan again 6-8 weeks after the switch, which I'm not sure when it was.
That was the general gist of it anyway.

Hello- I am in Canberra! Not that it's as exciting as me using the apostrophy- wham!- but guess what I found in the supermarket the other week?
See, always looking out for new vegan products and sadly I don't reckon Canberra's very appealing when it comes to it but we do get some occasional good stuff in and would you belive it in Tuggeranong Coles of all places- Soy Creme Caramel!!!!
Probably old news for many of you but not for me. And the bastards Sanitarium using their icky milk products in many of their "meats"- you can now get Vegan friendly nuggets and snitchels (spel???) from the fairly new company (as far as I am aware)....I don't remember their name but it begins with Z and comes in green boxes from the frozen section.
Oh! And Blue Ribbon just released a Soy-Based ice-cream that is vegan friendly, or so I remember. Haven't tried it yet but will get back to you...

Hey all,
I'm studying abroad in AU and need to find a vegan margarine. So far, all of them have vitamin D3 in them (which is not vegan at all). Anyone know of any brands? Even if I have to order online? Please EMAIL me. Do not reply to this. I never check veggieboards. Email me at: wamon@vt.edu. Thanks guys.
Thanks,
Billy

Welcome! I've tried their Vanilla Soy Icecream and its really really good. I made a post about it in here ages ago, but got told off because it has honey in it, and because they say 'lactose free' instead of 'dairy-free'!
*pouts* I still think it's great that they are putting out the soy icecream, even if they aren't up to vegan police standards lol

Yay! Now Aussies are cool!!
Because I am!
(Aussie, not cool, although really both need to be true for my above statement to work)
Not that Aussies weren't cool before I was one which was really never, unless you count when I wasn't born, but Aussies probably weren't cool then.
Or something. :p

la la la, I can't wait to get to Sydney, then I'll be able to legitimately post in this forum :D
I'm curious about playing soccer - I'm totally amateur at it (I played in jr high, high school, and soccer, but haven't played in about 9 years!). But I am dying to play again and want to join a fun team to meet new people - the kind of team where you can sit on the sidelines with a beer, and you just play for the fun of it...
How do I go about finding & joining a co-ed amateur team?

Pizza Hut cheese does not use rennet either, in any of it's Aus. stores. It's a pity, coz I don't eat cheese any more.

I'm gunna do an Alpaca:
Kiz - are you sure??
I had a look but I couldn't find any information anywhere about Pizza hut's cheese being rennent free.
Yes, I'm sure. I rang and asked. The person I spoke to had no idea, and they actually took to time to go ask the food tech's and get them to ring me back. I spoke to one of thier head techies myself. They said yes, it is rennet-free, but couldn't guarantee the absolute vegetarianess of thier veggie pizzas because in the hustle and bustle of a kitchen the hands that touch the meat may also touch the veggies.

Hi,
I want to leaflet for Super Size Me and hand out some vegan information. Problem is, I don't have any why vegans or any brochures with me (I am studying abroad). If anyone has any they'd be willing to mail to me (or I could pick them up if you live close to Maroochydore), please email me: wamon@vt.edu. Thanks!

Yup, the company that supplied them with Vitamin D lied their corporate asses off about where it came from. But NEVER FEAR! Nuttalex is out in new packaging and is 100% vegan (now stated on the label is that all vitamins are from vegetable sources).
I know this because I called up the Nuttalex and spoke to the "big cheese" a few weeks before the new packaging came out. So yeah, I'm pissed off but the company that supplied the Vitamin D is Roche (spelling?), one of the major pharmaceutical companies so not much we can do about it.
What pisses me off is that all the veg*n restaurants were using it under the impression that it was vegan.

I'm not sure if this will help, but you can download and print off flyers from http://www.whyvegan.com Not sure how reliable the info is but there you go.

Hen Victory!
On 27th May 2004, an historical vote happened when all Austrian MPs voted unanimously for a ban on battery farming and to put animal protection into the constitution.

Sorry if this has been posted before but I just found this forum section today *dances for finally having found Aussie vegans*

OK Sydney-siders...
My 3rd anniversary (marriage) is coming up in a week and I want to go to a nice restaurant. Problem is, it seems the nice places are all high-class seafood joints.
Any suggestions for veggie-friendly places? I need it close to transport, too... so I'm thinking like Darling Harbour, Circular Quay... The Rocks... hmmm...??
