That's what I can't figure out...... why does their ingredients list have the only veggie burger as not having chick peas? Guess I gotta wait until Sanitarium replies.

So you mean Maccas says it's made with chickpeas, but sanitarium doesn't mention them? You said it the other way round...
anyway, tried it, agree that there's too much sweet chilli sauce... a bit overpowering. Didn't mind the bun.

Guys - petit pois is French for chickpea! I don't know why they used the french term though that's just weird.

edit - I'm a bit confused with this whole thread (who's ingredients list is that? So if you already knew that I wasn't being a twat:D )

I was wondering what that was, Kate..... thanks.

I just got a reply from Sanitarium; they told me to ask McDonalds. What's up with that? They make the thing! I even sent Sanitarium that ingredient list; they didn't even say "petit pois" means Chick Peas.

The ingredient list I posted was from McDonalds' web site.

Pois chiche = chick peas
Pois cassés = spilt peas
Petit pois – garden peas

I'd like to say I was fluent in French but alas I would be fibbing:D
I looked it up on the internet.

I think McDonalds have told Sanitarium that any ingredient enquiries be directed to McDonalds. I've dealt with Sanitarium in the past, and they always stick some PR or customer relations person on the phone (who reads off of a sheet) when I want to talk to a food technician or nutritionist.

The bun is supposed to be Foccacia or some herb bun, but it doesn't seem to match the ingredients (although I don't know what all the chemical names mean).

They even list the ingedients for the lettuce: "100% iceburg lettuce".

YAY blue...

Yep, read the previous page... it's alright but I wouldn't rush out to buy it... only as a last resort you know?

i tried it friday night.
i asked if they could hold the mayo and they said no (but i couldnt find any to scrape off when i got home).
the pattie was a bit mushy.
they gave me the top slice off tomato..you know the brown spot where the stalk was attached?
and it had a definate 'mcdonalds' after taste..just a few hours later you can feel youve had maccas even if youve forgotton what dinner was.

overall not bad but not good...would be good when im travelling and theres no other vegie options but otherwise im not going back.

ps kinda small for $4

They have to make things to request... you should complain. They can grumble about it all they want but they have to.

My pattie was fine... maybe yours was sitting for a while? I didn't have the Maccas aftertaste, but mine was freshly made and different stores are different...

And I agree, small for the price.

Sorry, I'm going to sound the like the put-downer here, but I wouldn't touch a veggie burger from maccas or hungrys with a ten foot pole. I don't want to support anything those companies stand for. Call me silly, but I've learnt to carry museli bars in case of emergency and if I'm out of those, I find the closest Juice Bar, I can last for ages on a decent juice.
Just my $0.02

I'm the same as Euphoria. It's more then what's in it. To me, at least, it's more complex then that.

YAY Euph.

I agree with you on the Maccas burger thing... but at the same time, if I'm starving and there's nothing else, I'm not going to say no. I'm not organised enough to have food handy... LOL

SheWolf - thanks..yeah ill go to a different store if i get another

Euph. i do agree, but i also think id like to support veggie options being available because they are putting forward a range that doesnt support animal cruelty and marketing of fatty foods at kids (and most of the things i hate about their company). so i think even if they arent great, its still a positive step.

Firstly what's with this new format?!? I liked the old one.
I agree it's a positive step, and I have omni friends that wont eat maccas generally, but will probably give the new salad and veggie burger a go. It's just that I personally despise McDonalds.
When i was little I got really bad food poisoning from them. Then a few years later I worked for them for like 7mths, until I finally quit and this taught me how screwed up their system of management really is.
Then there's the fact that in the early nineties they gave money to terrorist organisations. Organisations who used to bomb near where I lived. So I avoid there as much as possible. Even my carniverous bf boycotts maccas.

Oh gawd I use to work there too. It was :furious: torture. And the tight pants they made the girls wear? What was with that... We used to get guys coming through drive through trying to grab our arses through the window.

My fiance was an assistant manager... he hated it. All the crew loved him though because he wasn't part of the smurf system... he didn't buy into it. He called himself a McSlave... I was so glad when he quit!

Yeah there were always some cool ones :) and some real jerks as well. Like this female manager who used to actually grab us by the arm and drag us over to the registers instead of just asking... grrrr

Kate, yeah, he hated one of his store managers... she called him a liar in front of everyone and when he proved her wrong she didn't apologise... he still calls her names to this day... child.

Maccas breeds some real arseholes.
When I quit it was because of this one bitchy manager that everyone hated. I made her cry when I quit, I was so proud :vebo:
The next day the store manager found out what happened and fired her and asked me to come back. :D But of course I didn't go.
