60 MINUTES COVERS LIVE EXPORT
60 Minutes will be covering the live export trade either this coming Sunday July 13 or Sunday July 20. Look out for this program and then make sure you ring the station with comments and write letters against this hideous cruelty to the papers.

Does anyone still call Australia home?
I don't. I can't. Not while this lying anti-human-rights US-government-ass-kissing government is "leading" us.

Is it in Castle Towers? :( I've been there once and it was a nightmare.
Are you going to that thing this Wednesday? I still can't find East Sydney..... although I'm not sure I care about playing Scrabble etc. (though meeting other veg*ns is usually good).
Hey, if you ever want to meet up (like in Richmond) let me know (basically any day and any hour is okay with me).

Yup in Castle Towers - right down the bottom near the Fruit and Veg shop. I asked expecting to have the owner say "Huh, yeast what?" she seemed pretty happy to have someone buy it too.
I don't think so :( Guess who went on an uncalled for shopping spree over the weekend? I can't believe I have about 1000 bucks left till next pay day (the 8th of AUGUST!). Argh.
But yep I'll PM you - I'm pretty restricted to just weekends unportunately cause I work plus I go to Uni at night :(

I am back at TAFE next week, 3 nights per week. :( Although I am talking them into giving me as much work to do at home as possible (it's North Sydney TAFE) to avoid the travel. APE should organise something out this way a bit.... say at Richmond.

Yeah dream on. Everyone 'knows' all animal activists and veg*ns live in the city  . I think we should found our own bloody group.
What are you doing at TAFE?
Oh BTW there is a new Arabic/Turkish restaurant in Blacktown - very nice an Veg*n friendly.

A group out this way isn't a bad idea..... there are bound to be other veg*ns (one client of mine has a vegetarian amongst their employees).
I'm doing database design and development at TAFE.

In other news... Sixty Minutes is running an story on live exports on Sunday night... here is the blurb...
http://sixtyminutes.ninemsn.com.au/sixtyminutes/stories/2003_07_27/story_907.asp
On the surface, it looks like a smart and particularly lucrative trade deal. Well it is, but it’s also a horror story. Last year, Australia earned a small fortune selling livestock overseas, mainly to the Middle East. Millions of sheep and cattle were herded on to boats and shipped out — and we raked in more than a billion export dollars. Some exporters and some farmers made a killing. The year 2002 was the best ever, but there was a hidden cost. Some of those shipments were real shockers. In this story, we have spared you from the pictures of the worst of it, but some scenes may still distress some viewers.
This story's transcript will be available on Monday 28 July.

The ad was disgusting. Please try to watch it (I will try to, I'm a shocker).

I don't know if I'll be able to watch that 60 Minutes; I've seen enough still-photos (and read enough descriptions) of live exports to the middle-east from Animal Lib publications.

I found that ice-cream (Woolworths). It has Honey in it, though.... and while it says "lactose-free" it doesn't say "dairy-free".
There's also a "Calcium-rich" version which has milk products, which gives the impression that only milk products can provide high calcium levels.
