Any veggie people in Regina? I just had a horrific BBQ experience last night and it would be great to meet some people here who understand why I find buffalo burgers so appalling! :)

In Alberta :)

Alberta's even 'beefier' than Regina! :)
Do you find the people in Calgary more understanding of the veggie thing because it's a larger city or does everyone sport a "I heart canadian beef' sticker on their car? :)
I'm originally from Windsor, Ontario and it's small enough to have its share of the uninformed and die hard meat eaters but the main industry is automobile production, not farming. I've never been publicly ridiculed because I didn't want to eat a buffalo burger like I was in Regina last night.

OOPS!! I'm sorry. I assumed Calgary when you only said Alberta. My mistake and apologies.

molly, unfourtunately, you came along to late, but The Heliotrope was an amazing veggie restaraunt that closed down on July 24th. sniffle sniffle sniffle. I'm in Hamilton now, but I've heard that The 13th Ave coffee house is amazing for it's veggie food.

The Heliotrope closed? That's the one place that has been recommended to me. Oh well, there are enough Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese places here to choose from.
I live about 4 blocks from the 13th Ave coffee house and although I've never eaten there, I have read their 'specials' chalkboard on the sidewalk and it looks like a vegetarian's delight!
Thanks for the info.

try the cathedral village freehouse, also Roca Jacks on Scarth has (or at least did) vegan sushi!

I've been to the Freehouse and found it very easy to find something on the menu that not only I could eat but that actually tasted good.
Also, Brewsters has a great portobello mushroom burger that's pretty tasty.
Now all I need to find is another veggie to hang out with!

Thanks! I just checked out the site. I registered but when I went to log in, it won't let me so I'll try again.
Btw, are your friends veggie? Not that it matters, just wondering.

I'm in Regina, faerie. I don't make it up to Saskatoon very often but if you're ever in Regina, give me a dingle and we can do lunch!

Hi!
I just wanted to pass on the word that November 1 is World Vegan Day. The Vegan Society has a website set up at <search for world vegan day and it should come up -- the address contains the name: "world vegan day" and "dot org"> and is asking vegans to send in short bios and photos of themselves to show the "typical vegan". (i.e. that there really is no typical vegan).
Check it out.

Just curious... any vegs from the Saskatoon area on the boards here?

Has anyone been to the 'Upstairs' - on broadway and 8th. They have a lot of vegan fake meats and really good fondue. I recommend it!

I'm going to Saskatoon this week, and was wondering if you guys could point me towards some nice vegetarian, or vegie friendly restaurants.
I've heard that the best place to go is Caffe Sola (http://www.caffesola.ca/). Check out their web page!
