DORADOS
1 bag of vegan tortilla chips
1/3 cup of nutritional yeast
1 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. citric acid (I used lime juice)

Put all into a large sealable plastic bag and shake well, but gently to coat. Eat and enjoy!

I made these with tortilla chips and then I used toasted tortillas. Both were great but I liked the toasted tortilla version best.

Also, I used a pinch of cumin cause I luv it.

That sounds good. I love chips, but I know they're not too good for you. Could you tell me though, what is the difference between "regular" and "nutritional" yeast?

Red Star nutritional yeast is grown specifically for its nutritive value. In addition to protein, dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals, it contains additional functional and beneficial components such as beta-1,3 glucan, trehalose, mannan and glutathione. Studies have show that these components have potential health benefits such as, improved immune response, reduction of cholesterol, and anti-cancer properties. Red Star nutritional yeast is not made from by-products of breweries, distilleries or paper mills.

Grown exclusively on molasses.

Naturally low in fat and salt.

Kosher certified (excluding Passover).

Best when stored in a cool, dry place.

Nutritional Yeast Is Not

Brewers yeast, a bitter by-product of the brewing industry that typically has had an inconsistent nutritional profile.

Torula yeast, a by-product of the paper mill waste streams obtained by growing Pichia jadinii on wood
sugars.

Dairy yeast, or whey yeast, which is obtained by growing Kluyveromyce marxianus using cheese whey or whey permeate.

An active baking yeast.

A genetically modified organism (GMO).

A product containing added sugars or preservatives.

A health concern. Red Star’s nutritional yeast is not found to be a cause of yeast or candida infections.

mmmm, sounds great.

Maybe you could use a spray bottle to mist the lemon juice over the chips before you shake on the other ingredients to help them stick.

How big of a bag of chips did you use?

There are also mexi-snax. Not all are vegan. I LOVE Salsa Picante though, they burn my mouth off!

The first time I made these I didn't have any paprika, so I used chili powder instead of paprika and they came out really good. The next time I had paprika and made the recipe as it is written and we didn't like them nearly as well.

This sounds infinitely better than Doritos, but just similar enough to please the family when they want things like this. Thank you so much. I like the suggestions for lime juice and chili powder.

I made this using a 9oz. bag of corn tortilla chips. I used lime juice for the citric acid. I definately suggest using less than 1/3 cup nutritional yeast at that size...maybe 1/4 C. Alot of it went to waste after all the chips were coated.
I also added a teaspoon of the cumin and I suggest doing so, very good!

Spraying them first isnt needed at all, everything sticks nicely. The juice is pretty much for added flavor, definately adds the right taste.

Thank you! I will be sure to experiment with this one.
