None of my cats have ever had colds before. What should I do? He's about 9 months old and is sneezing up a storm!

thanks

Has he had his cat flu jab?if not it could be quite serious.Take him to the vets and get him checked out.

A cold in cats is rarly just a cold but normaly some sort of URI. Viral being most common but occasionaly you see bacterial.
Is your kitty up to date on his shots? or more exact has he had his FVR vaccine? Since that one is the real danger one.
In the meantime your kitty should see a vet and be seperated from any other cats.

It could be any number of things, more importantly is the cat eating & goingto the bathroom normally? That is a sure tell sign of when something is wrong.

My kitties were sneezing a lot when I adopted them. I was taking them to the vet for a series of shots anyway, so the vet gave me an antibiotic that I had to administer orally (fun! :stinkeye: ) Fortunately, their sneezing cleared up right away.

So, yeah, take the kitten to the vet PRONTO.

Personaly speaking if your not real familier with what "might" be wrong I would take him to the vet but if you have a bit of knowlage about what is a normal illness and what is serious you can wait and see.

But I do urge you no matter what keep the cat away from other cats and watch close for any signs of not eating ,drinking or going to the bathroom properly.
If a cat starts running a reasonably high fever they will stop eating and more than 2 days without eating can have very bad results for kitties.

Also just as a side note, my cat started sneezing one day and she sneezed for a few days nothing else wrong with her and I was rather annoyed.
Took her to the vet and he said ahh just a URI and gave her antibiotics and off we went.
Round of antibiotics finished and cat still sneezing and becommign quite ill.

So I made another appointment, day before the appointment she starts sneezing and violently a large fit of it over and over and over.

I go over to her and I see something sticking outta her nose now thats a WTF?? moment yelled at my husband to get a paper towel and I grabed ahold of it and pulled.
Pulled an almost 4 inch piece of grass out of her sinus cavity, the poor thing yeah she did have a URI caused by a object in there , she cleared up within 48 hours

Seemed she ate some grass then vomited up a hairball and some got erm..stuck.
