Hey Catgurrl,

Do you shop at Tara Natural Food? And if you do what do you think of it? I think it is a great place. Now that I am living in London I don't go to natural food stores cause they are so far and I find more expensive. I am Looking forward to getting back to Kingston this fall so that I can get my natural food fix!

I'm going with my boyfriend and his family for our annual week in Canada. They have a secluded cottage on Lake Papinue, which is located near Bancroft.

Anyways, we usually take a day and spend in town, and I have plans to take some leaflets with me, hopefully hand some out. I've never leafleted in Canada before.....and unfortunately I don't know the extent of animal rights in Canada. So....any advice or tips? Thanks a bunch =)

3.5 hours or so, I'd estimate. Going through toronto during rush hour would make it longer.

45 minutes (i'm in Toronto). I actually played my first show with my band in Kitchener in August at the Circus Room. Cool place. I was surprised to see that Kitchener actually had a downtown and stuff. I wasn't expecting it to be more than a bunch of plaza's and a Walmart, haha.

I go to Kitchener from time to time for work because the main Canadian distribution point is there. Nice city.

I must interrupt this Kitchener talk with news of veg*n goodness. The place is called Zen Garden(s?) and it's in London, downtown at Dundas and Waterloo beside the Budapest restaurant.
They serve probably 85-90% vegan food; everything on the menu is assumed to be vegan unless otherwise marked. Asian-influenced.

I am typing this with a mouthful of vegan wonton soup. I haven't had wonton for about, oh, 12 years. Git yer butts down there.

That is all.

Zen gardens is amazing! they have great smoothies that they make with soy milk and wont add yogurt if you ask for no yogurt. Of course we have a downtown lmao ;-)
What is the name of your band - newstars? i live about 5 minutes from there - let me know if you ever play there again - i like it there too !
I'd love to organize a south-eastern veggie type group . The TVA offers lots but as everythingis in toronto its hard. Any keeners?

I moved to Windsor five months ago and want to know if anyone knows of any good alternative stores or vegan restaurants. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.:bobo:

I'm looking for good places in S. Ontario to buy good vegan shoes. I'm not too much into big skate shoes so macbeth's and signature vans aren't really my thing. I'm mostly looking for hightops or thin material sneakers ala Converse... only sweatshop free. London area, Toronto, Hamilton, Niagra Falls, Waterloo/Kitchers/Brantford. I'm in all of those places in the next month or 2 so any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are lots of vegan shoes being sold online. Just google for "vegan shoes". There is one store that I know of in Toronto that sells vegan shoes. I think it's called "Left Feet". You can find it in the vegetarian directory on www.veg.ca

PLEASE help with the names of a few places where a vegan can eat around the Stratford area. Next weekend I am going to the Stratford Festival with a new boyfriend who may not understand what it means that I am 18 years vegan -- I am nervous about finding food to eat from Friday through Sunday and I do not want to give the impression that veganism is difficult. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Left Feet in Toronto has really nice shoes but they are expensive.

Yes, lots of people have been suggesting left feet to me. I suppose if you spend another 20 bucks onshipping for shoes it won't make a whole lot of difference anyway.

Hi there. I currently live in Windsor as well. While I'm not sure about the vegan options I know of a few vegetarian (or very vegetarian friendly) places you can check out.

World Marathon
It's an ethopian place. I can't remember the exact address but its on University and Oullette (I think).

Bubi's Awesome Eats
620 University Avenue West,
It's a western style food place, hamburgers and stuff, almost everything made with beef is made with fake meat as well. Very veg friendly.

Mini Restaurant
475 University Avenue West
Korean I think

OM Foods
3200 Sandwich Street
A small take out indian place. Only vegetarian food choices.

Chanoso's Restaurant
255 Ouellette Avenue,
A fancy western style noodle house I guess.

That's all I can think of right now, I'll try and add some more later. Keep in mind that most of these places are not strictly vegetarian. With the exception of Om Foods, I have not found a veg*n only place in windsor yet.

Also. For shopping, I haven't found any good place to shop yet. My advice is Superstore (way down on Walker by the SilverCity), Bulk Barn (there is one on Walker as well), and then just trying to find a cheap farmers market for vegetables. I usually go to Joseph's Farmers Market, which is a decent place. You can find it on Tecumseh and California ave.

Anyway. Good luck.
