We're in Toronto, but we don't have a store. As for our "I Love Tofu" shirts, we're really low on stock. So let me know what you want via PM and i'll let you know if we have it. Plus i'll hook you up with a VB member discount.
I hope i don't get in trouble for advertising. But we do sell "I Love Tofu" shirts. :-/

i went to Maggie's in september for my birthday, it was excellent. they have omni vegetarian and vegan options. which works out cause my bf is omni, and doesn't like to try all my "wierd" vegan stuff lol so i didn't want to drag him somewhere totally veg. i had the italian eggplant relish and it was verrrrrrry good. and the prices aren't too bad considering the portions are decent. like not enormous but a good size. i didn't finish all mine. it comes with greens and big tomato chunks and even some berries on the side. and free appetizer (vegan)
the coffee was even pretty good. i recommend it
In just a matter of weeks hundreds of thousands of seal pups will be slaughtered on the ice floes of Eastern Canada. Please join us to do something about it.

I would love to offer my home to do a potluck, how about on April 7, from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm, before the mother's day? I live in Kanata south.
Does any mom will come? Please let me know. Any mom and children are welcome.

Hello, Ontarians.
I live in Toronto and have never regularly consumed cheese. Recently I did eat some Mozzarella cheese and had some adverse hormonal reactions. I was wondering what the hormones/additives in Ontario cheese are and if they have been known to have such effects? Also what are the dangers of these additives? I have been a vegan a long time and have no experience with cheese whatsoever so any information is appreciated.
Thank you. :3

Hey! I would check out a few books or web sites to find out that info:
websites: pcrm and notmilk
and:
Diet for a New America (great book)
Dairy is said to be like a drug-very addictive. And there are so many hormones added to dairy these days that no wonder there are so many new health problems on a daily basis.

I'm in NW Ontario, Sioux Lookout! One very small very boring and very anti-vegetarian/vegan . We only have 1 grocerie store and there is only 1 tiny space for vegetarian product in all the store , hiding way in the back and i think i'm the only one buying anything vegetarian there lol! I work there and i never see anyone else buying any Tofu, meat substitute, or soy products. That's really sad... I think they won't carry my stuff much longer if it doesn't sell better....
The nearest other town in called Dryden, it's 1 hour drive from here. I called Safeway there today to find out if they had soemthing call VEAT (i was told by someone online that this is the best chick'n breast ever) So i asked the lady on the phone if they had a soy based meat substitute name Veat. She asked :" What is it? Is it beef ,pork or chicken?" I told her :" no it's not real meat it's meat substitute. It would probably be located near your tofu section " She says:" Tofu? Is that a vegetable? " I told her :" Well i think it's near you vegetable section " She then transfered me to the produces departement. They had no clue what meat substitute was either lol! They finaly told me that they had some Yves ground round and some Bocca burger .
Does anyone know if Veat is available in Ontario ?
Helene
Umm I've never / heard seen it b4, try calling heath food stores?

Lol! you don't know where i live for sure! Sorry if i'm laughing but i couldn't help myself!
You see i live in a tiny tiny town way way up north , waaaaaayyyyyyyy up north in the middle of no where! People here enjoy fishing in the summer, hunting and dog sled in the winter (i'm agains all of this of course ) they eat meat and don't care much about healthy alternative and they don't care about animals either. We only have 1 grocery store , i don't think people around here know what a health store is lol! We have 1 grocery store, 3 hotels (lots of drunken idiots around here), 3 really bad restaurants, tha'ts it ! And Dryden (the town that's 1 hour drive from here is not much better...lol! No health food store anywhere near here :)
But thanks for the help... And please don't think of me has being like the people around here. I'm totally not like them!

Yesterday, Saturday...
My boyfriend and I trekked to Kensington market in the hopes to shop around and eat a wonderfully vegan lunch at Ra Ra Raw! We were very disappointed to realize that it is no longer open. I think it is such a same how vegan establishments open, scrape along and disintegrate all too quickly. Anyway we then decided on a new restaurant on Augusta called Herbivore, I strongly suggest ya'll check it out. It was really really good. Sandwiches, salads and juices. The prices on the wall include taxes, they may seem steep but keep the tax thing in mind. Also, I like spending money if what I am supporting is worth-while. I hope to open a vegan cafe with my boyfriend after we move to Montreal in the late summer. I hope you will come and support us.

I love the veg options at Cosmic Charlie's downtown.
You also have Joanne's Place, which is a kick ass store!

I have never seen Veat in Ottawa.
Toronto veg people- I want to go to Toronto for a couple days this summer, mainly to hit the best veg restaurants. In particular, ones with strong vegan options (I'm vegan, husband is vegetarian). What are the amazing restaurants that we should not miss, and where are they?

Don't pass up Fressen. It is on Queen St. W. just west of Spadina. Order the gluten roast!
As well, Vegetarian Haven provides vegetarian heaven on every plate. Order the drumsticks! VH is a little more trickier to find, but it's located on a quiet strip of restaurants not too far from University and Dundas. VERY nice.
Check out this link to get the info on these and other veggie restauarants in Toronto.
