Hello fellow NBers. :)
I'm in Moncton, and new to veggieboards!

I love Calactus food..although the last experience I had there was not a good one...I don't know if I"ll be able to convince my bf to go back there with me sometime....waiting an hour to be served is not good customer service.
Wow! I admire your patience. I would have stormed out after about 15 minutes. I find it so ignorant when you've seated yourself and you're waiting for EVER to be acknowledged.

Hi NBers. :) I'm in Newfoundland, but looking for someone from Moncton to help me out. A friend of my dad's is coming up from Moncton soon and might be able to bring some goodies that we can't buy here. :) Which Superstore has the best selection of vegan stuff? I've heard you can get Earth Balance (can't get vegan margarine of any kind here). Do they have Tofutti cream cheese/sour cream (non-hydrogenated)?

In my experience, in Nova Scotia and NB, superstore doesn't carry Earth Balance. For some reason only Sobey's does.

Thanks nookle! Would that be with all the other margarines, or n a special "natural foods" section?

I just assumed Superstore would be the place to go because here, Dominion (same chain) has the biggest selection of stuff like that.

Yeah, I like superstore better than sobey's, it has more stuff in general, and their natural food section is far better, but there you have it. And veganaise - they only have it at superstore - go figure. It's like they're trying to equally split the hippy market.

EB at sobey's is in the hippy fridge where the soymilk and stuff is. It's usually near the pharmacy section, for some reason. You know, it's funny. The grocery stores in Montréal have the soymilk in the regular milk fridge, next to the cow's milk. And they have LOTS. I think it's more popular there than here. Hmm.

I find that it depends on what Superstore or Sobeys you go to. A lot of times Sobeys has a better selection than the nearest Supserstore, and vice versa. I also find that I always needed to go to both to get everything I wanted...

Yup, it's the same way here. Except the Sobey's here don't even have a hippy fridge (LOL), just a hippy freezer. Therefore, no EB.

Where do they keep their soymilk? And their tofu, veggie burgers, organic cheeses and butter?

Minibean

Depends. Some brands of soy milk are kept with the dairy milk. Most brands of soy milk aren't refridgerated anyway, so those are on the shelf in the hippy section (haha, that's my new name for it). Frozen veggie burgers are in the hippy freezer, and there are Yves and PC ones in the produce section, near the gourmets cheeses and meats, also tofu. I don't know if they have organic cheese and butter. I'm going to ask them if they've ever thought about having a fridge for the natural foods secton, maybe if I can get enough people to ask, they'll put one in. :)

Good call. And ask about carrying EB. If the other stores in the chain carry it, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
