I love Winnipeg so much. What a beautiful city, and so vegan-friendly... I can't wait to go back.

I love Osborne Village. :) Kustom Kulture and The Crypt are my two favorite stores there. Too bad i don't live in Winnipeg. I live in a small town called Carman about 45 minutes away.

I used to live down the road from Kustom Kulture, and yes, the Osborne Village is totally awesome. Did you ever dine at Fude? They have an extensive vegetarian selection that they pride themselves on, and the folks who run the place are super helpful. :)
Some of my favourite restaurants are
Affinity... the Kung Pao Gluten mmmmmm
Delicious Vegetarian Restaurant .... I believe it is 100% vegan
The Falafel Place.... great falafel and vegan soups
The East India Company .... very good buffet
Massawa ... Ethiopian food which is very good (but be prepared for a long wait)

I went to the Dandelion Eatery for the first time today, and wow was it delicious. I'm definitely going again. I also went to FusionGrill recently, and the vegetarian pasta dish I had was excellent.
I've been to the Dandelion Eatery but not the Fusion Grill.
I guess I've always associated the Fusion Grill with being more of a "meat based" menu
Do they have more options?

Their menu wasn't terribly large - the place is very tiny. I think they had two vegetarian dishes, I don't remember seeing three. It was yummy, though!
I know the chef at 7 1/4 on Osborne
He made the most incredible vegan plate for us. Tomatoes stuffed with lentils, braised leeks, portabello, & grilled veggies
now I'm getting hungry.....

That sounds really good. I haven't heard of that restaurant, do they have many vegetarian options?
Also, I drove by the farmer's market in St. Norbert on Wednesday and there wasn't anyone set up there! The sign says Wednesdays 1-dusk (I was there around 4:30-5ish) and Saturdays 8(9?)-3pm. There is no way I can ever go on a Saturday because I work, but are they not doing it on Wednesdays yet or something?

I didn't like the Dandelion. :(

I miss Mondragon. I'm going to have to make a trip up there soon, now that I have my own car.

I just joined the VB :]
I`m from Winnipeg, Manitoba and a recent vegan.
I'm from Winnipeg, and just moved to a small town in west Texas a month ago. Not the best place to be a vegetarian, let me tell you! LOL
I will be in Winnipeg for 24 hours this week.
Any suggestions for lunch / dinner? Have any of you been to Organic Planet?

Sorry, I didn't see your post. No, I haven't heard of Organic Planet, is there one in Winnipeg? I recently went to the Delicious Vegetarian Restaurant (yes, it's really called that) on Pembina and I couldn't believe the number of dishes there were! And the food was good and it was cheap. I'll definitely be going there again. Has anyone else been to it?

I used to live right by Delicious Vegetarian. I agree, I was floored by the number of dishes...I know I had the mock duck, and I don't really remember what else because it was a couple of years ago, but everything was really yummy!

I know, there's over 100! I wanted to try the mock duck, but there was so much to choose from. I had never eaten real duck before, and when I saw the sweet and sour deep fried tofu I couldn't resist. What's the mock duck like?

I've never had real duck so I can't compare it, and I haven't been to that restaurant since I lived in Winnipeg about 3 years ago, but it was made out of wheat gluten I'm pretty sure and I remember loving the sauce. I shared it with a friend and she really didn't like the chewy texture of it, but she's an omni and not used to seitan and what-not.
I'm going to be in Winnipeg for like 1 day in a couple of weeks, I should see if I can swing by that place...I had almost forgotten all about it until I saw this thread!

Hmm, maybe I'll try it next time. And yeah, you should definitely go! My favourite so far is The Dandelion Eatery (mostly vegetarian), though. You should check it out, it's really healthy. It's at confusion corner, basically where the Dark Zone used to be.

Ooh, that wasn't there when I left Winnipeg, it was still the Dark Zone. Is that where Organza (I think that was the name) moved to?
Angelwing

Yep, Organza and the Dandelion Eatery are linked. I love them both, but I wish the Darkzone was still there too. :(

Does anyone know when the Farmer's market starts and on what days/times? I thought it was supposed to be on Wednesdays (as well as Saturdays) last year but whenever I went on Wed nobody was ever there...

I've been trying to find nice, ethnic, cheap grocery stores but I need some help! I've been to the India Spice World on Pembina (kinda expensive) and Wenkai fresh, also on Pembina. Where do you guys shop? Does anyone here still live in Winnipeg?

Stellas Cafe has a great veggie burger along with many other veggie plates.
Desert Sensations downtown has probably the best veggie burgar I have ever tried.
The new Felafel place on Corydon is realllly great with a like 80% vegan menu.
All in Winnipeg BTW.
