Hey Slynny, I've never been to that restaurant but I'll have to keep it in mind next time we go to Madison!
B4S- I'm so disgusted with the mourning dove situation. I think the DNR is just interested in making money off of hunting licenses. Idiots. Humans really need to start leaving nature alone.

Ok, so I have just discovered this Animal Welfare Meetup website, because I'm interested in becoming an animal rights activist. I checked out the Milwaukee section and they have all these groups and I don't fit into any -- is any else familiar with this?
Can you provide a link to this? I'd never heard of this and would like to take a look. Thanks! :)
What!!!!! Hunting mourning doves??!!! What the hell...I can't believe that, I really can't. :(

Yep its true.
i have no idea what started or what's fueling this morning dove thing. why would anyone want to shoot something like that.... they probably put a bunch of wildlife names in a hat and picked one, and said, "welp, this is the new target. sign up for your license today!"
i think its really sick that people think its their job to kill things in order to "protect" the environment. like its a duty, and somebody has gotta do it.

i posted an article about it in the In the News section of VB if any of you wanna take a closer look.
People who hunt make me sick. I say we all get together and go and hunt the hunters. Yeah, I wanna see them crying with pain...and then, we should have their families watch them die, just like deer and moose and birds. Damn, that's so sick.

There's the Animal Welfare Meetup place -- lemme know what you guys think.
Hmmmm. There was one for a vegan group around here, but it only had one member. :( Otherwise, I didn't really see anything of interest to me. I'll have to check back in a couple months to see if there are more members, though. Thanks for the link!

Oh yes! When and where!
But their by-passing the golden rule on this one. If its cute, don’t kill it. But you know what’s going to happen after the hunt is on for a few years. It will become normal, and then no one will care.
(sorry for jumping into your thread :))
From: Collected poems 1951-75 by Charles Causley (Macmillan London Ltd.)
I Saw A Jolly Hunter
I saw a jolly hunter
With a jolly gun
Walking in the country
In the jolly sun.
In the jolly meadow
Sat a jolly hare.
Saw the jolly hunter.
Took jolly care.
Hunter jolly eager
Sight of jolly prey.
Forgot gun pointing
Wrong jolly way.
Jolly hunter jolly head
Over heels gone.
Jolly old safety catch
Not jolly on.
Bang went the jolly gun.
Hunter jolly dead.
Jolly hare got clean away.
Jolly good, I said.
That's the best poem I've ever read! :)

The norm is never a good thing...and this point proves it. I hate people that go with the flow instead of against it and just don't care.
I went to Neal Barnard yesterday.
It was a really interesting lecture.
Did any of you go, without me being able to recognize you?
I, unfortunately couldn't make it. :(

What about people who eat meat at the store? Killing a wild animal for its flesh is far less cruel than eating an animal raised in a factory farm. Since, you vegetarian, I will let you get away with this, but I do know omnivores who do eat meat, but criticize hunters. I'm pretty sure Ozzy Osbourne is not a vegetarian, yet he was critical of Ted Nugent for hunting... Then again Ted is a lunatic when it comes to hunting.
Hey guys, I got to me a super great, very sweet, person from the boards last week!!
Brake4squirrels!! We met for lunch last week before she had to go back to school. We went to Bombay Sweets, a little Indian place on the south side. It is a very simple place, nothing fancy...but the food was very good and very inexpensive! I think I ordered the most expensive thing on the menu and it was $5.95...the combo platter which included two veg curries, dal makahni, basmati rice, and two types of bread.
Anyway we had a very nice lunch, it was lots of fun to meet up. We both agreed it would be fun to try a little get together again with all the WI folks, but she'll be gone at school till??? Perhaps when she gets back? :D

Hi Slynny!
Yes, it was great to meet with you. Great restaurant choice!! Yes I hope more of us can get together soon. I have no idea when I'd be back. If I did, it might be around Christmas. Or Spring break time, which is usually one week in April.
thats all for now

Some hotel parking lots are totally filled with Harleys.
Yes, harleys are everywhere right now. *sigh* How I wish I had one. I wanna be a motorcycle mama. :)
I was just given a link to this site (http://wisconsinanimals.tripod.com/).
Cool! I had no idea that there were so many groups in Wisconsin. Thanks, Wanda!!

Does anyone know what the requirements for attending a MARV potluck are? I'm assuming that you would have to bring a dish, but do you have to be a member or is it open to anyone?
