I went there years and years ago when I was working at a preschool. We took the kids there on a field trip. It's a petting zoo. My in-laws live in that area (it's about an hour away from me), so they have taken my son there. I have no idea how humane it is. Why do you ask?

I just heard of it in passing and thought it sounded interesting, and wondered if anyone here had ever heard (or even better, seen) it. I'm mainly interested because it seems to center on Deer, who just walk around and get fed. It's somthing I'd like to know more about.
Anyway, thanks for your help. :)

There's something similar in Wisconsin Dells. I posted pictures of me feeding the deer in the photo album a couple years ago.

Anthony Marr from the HOPE (http://www.hope-care.org/) website is going to drive from Milwaukee to Chicago on Sunday July 23rd.
It will be a motorcade for farm animals and seals.
They need 10 cars with people who are willing to drive.
Anthony will speak along the way and also hold a lecture in Milwaukee on Monday the 24th.

Contact me if you want to participate!

You can find more details here (http://www.hope-care.org/02%20CARE%20Tour.htm) and at the Alliance for Animals (http://www.alliance4animals.org/index.htm) website.

Don't miss this event!!!!!

I really hope some of you will show up.
They already have some people from Chicago, but would like more from Wisconsin.

"The purpose is of the motorcade is to raise awareness of the
Canadian seal hunts by converting dry statistics ('Canada kills
325,000 baby seals a year') into visions ('Line up the 325,000
baby seals killed in Canada every year, single file, along a
highway, and the dead-seal line will stretch over 200 miles. You
need to drive non-stop at highway speed for three hours to go
from one end to the other'). We're sure that the proper
perspective will compel compassionate hearts to action," says
Anthony Marr, conceiver of the project.

The Milwaukee-to-Chicago motorcade will span 87 miles, or 44%
the length of the dead-seal line. It is the fifth stop in
Anthony Marr's ongoing "Compassion for Animals Road Expedition
#4" (CARE-4), The entire expedition - including a total of 25
motorcades in 25 cities - will cover 25,000 miles (the Earth's
circumference) through 35 states and 6 Canadian provinces in 5
months (July through December, 2006). Please visit
www.hope-care.org to see photos of the other motorcades and the
full itinerary.

Besides conducting extensive campaign and lecture tours
throughout North America for months at a time, Anthony Marr is
an internationally-renowned Wildlife Preservationist who works
in India to conserve the Bengal tiger and in Japan to oppose
whaling and dolphin slaughter.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Join the Motorcade!

Just meet us at 9 AM (promptly please) on Sunday, July 23, at
Bradford Beach at Northpoint. We want to have as many vehicles
in the motorcade as we can get. Naturally, the more we have, the
more likely we'll get the media attention that the seals
deserve."

I don't know if I am going or not. I should, considering that I could walk or bike there, and I don't work.

I spaced it off, and ended up doing laundry instead, then did some work for/with my neighbor.

I live in Owen, but I'm not native here. I transplanted from Texas, about 8-years ago. I think it's great there's no death-penalty for people in Wisconsin, and I'm going to actually go vote in Nov. to help keep it that way.

Wanda
10-22-06, 08:28 PM
I wish I could vote!
My husband is just flying back from Texas today. He was there on a business trip.
A big difference in weather! I heard that in Texas the temperature gets above 90 degrees for 6 months out of the year.
So what do you prefer? Do you miss Texas?

Capstan
10-22-06, 09:04 PM
Do I miss Texas? Well, no. I miss the warmth, but not the arogant mentality. I'm not saying all Texans are rednecks. They're not; there are many fine people there. There's no state income-tax in Texas, while Wisconsin property tax is very high. All my time in Texas was in Dallas; Owen is only about 1000 people. It's comparing apples to oranges. But I think I'd move to Costa Rica to live, before going back to Dallas. Also, Texas has a lot of snakes.

If you can't find any in Beloit, maybe you'll get a chance to go to Madison- VERY veg friendly. You could definitely stook up if you have a chance.
