Hi EarthWhispers, :hi: I'll bet Wanda will know. She always keeps us informed.
Sorry. Don't know anything in Appleton.
I do have some news though!
I just received an email from the Alliance for Animals.
They are going to be on the Channel 18 news, Saturday night at 9pm.
There is also going to be a KFC protest tomorrow on Howell and Layton from noon-1pm. I'm in Florida right now, so can't make it.
I'm heading to Chicago on Thursday through Sunday and I'll be driving through Madison. Can anyone suggest a good place to eat that's not too far off the highway?
Thanks! :D
Sally, the only veggie places I know are right around the capitol and are a ways off the expressway; but I'm not from the area,...sorry.
Has anyone tried the Tempation ice cream (http://www.chicagosoydairy.com/index.html) yet?
This Chicago company is now selling it's products in Wisconsin.
I love the Peach Cobbler!!!

Wanda, I haven't seen it yet...where do you get it?
You can get it at both the Outpost and Beans & Barley.

I live in Owen, right smack in the middle of the state, just off Hwy 29. We have a couple of nice parks, especially the one in the middle, which has a large mill-pond. Twice a year, every goose in Canada stops here for a nap; you should see it! If you're ever passing by, fell free to stop in for a picknik. But bring your own stuff; there's NOTHING veggie available here! :sunny:
Hi Capstan!
I love Canadian geese. They are such interesting animals!
I like how they choose a partner for life and how they take care of everyone in their group.
If anyone is in the area, please help out at the Red Lobster protest tomorrow:
Our Red Lobster protest will be held Saturday, June 25, from 12-2pm at the Mayfair Red Lobster. The address is 2801 N. Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa. We are hoping to encourage Red Lobster to stop buying Canadian Seafood, in turn, encouraging Canada to stop the brutal seal hunt.
"The controversy and boycott are rooted in the widely criticized and much-filmed harvesting of seal pup pelts by first bashing the animals in the head with mallets or baseball-bat- like batons or shooting them in the head at point-blank range just days after birth. Seal hunters call them "beaters" - seal pups who are at least two weeks old. And once a baby seal starts to molt even a part of its white coat, the Canadian government allows hunters to beat the pups to death with a club or a large ice-pick-like hakapik. There have even been reports of sealers killing mothers who try to protect their unweaned pups. Once shorn of their pelts, the carcasses either are discarded in the ocean or are left on the beaches for scavengers." ~ HSUS
Hey there, I'm heading to Green Bay again tomorrow through Sunday. Sorry for the late notice. Slynny, are you around?
Capstan, if I'm not mistaken, I drive by a sign that says "Owen" every time I head to Green Bay. I'll think of you tomorrow!

:hi: Hi Sally, I haven't been around much....RL is keeping me way to busy....it's all good though. I check in now and again but I haven't been posting much. Bummer, We're not going up-north this weekend. I was in Whitewater today, my hub was in a big bike ride out that way. Tomorrow I'll be in Milwaukee. One of these days we'll meet up Sally :).
Capstan, I've never been that far on Hwy 29, Hwy 51 is the farthest I've been but we usually get off at Bonduel.
Bananas, the only vegan store I know of in Milwaukee is Vegan Essentials, but it's on 92nd near Capitol. The Outpost is around Capitol and Oakland, it has some vegan stuff. That's all I know of, but I don't live in Milwaukee.
I just got home from Green Bay. I ate falafel at Kavarna twice during my stay. :lick: I wish I would've brought some home!
Slynny, I am confused about where you live... maybe I can plan a trip there in the future.
Hi Bananas!
That store is Cari Amici.
However, it is no longer there. She only sells online right now.
You can find her website here (http://www.cariamici.net/).
The old name is still on the storefront, but it is now a Russian bookstore.
By the way, does anyone here know of a vegan-friendly pediatrician in the Green Bay area?
Someone just posted this message (http://www.thisiscool.net/vpforum/viewtopic.php?t=361) on my forum.

Mmmmm...Kavarna falafel....I'm jealous! Sally, I live in a small town between Milwaukee and Sheboygan...not much going on here. We also have a vacation home north of Shawano, that's why I go through Green Bay so often. So Milwaukee or Green Bay are both more exciting than where I live, and I am close enough to both.

Oooo, I like Waukesha! Well, are you willing to go out of town to eat and shop? If so, you can find lots of places. Hope you have a great b-day! :nigel: :smitten:
I'm not from Wisconsin. (I live in Switzerland). But I would like to know if anyone from this State has ever visited the Primate Research Exhibition Hall in Madison. The web-link is:
http://www.primateresearch.com
And if so, what are your impressions? Does it receive a lot of visitors? What are their exhibits like?
Thank you for any feedback.
