I have started listing the demonstrations organized by CUFA and Alliance for Animals here (http://www.thisiscool.net/vpforum/viewforum.php?f=28).
The ones coming up soon are the KFC protest on the 8th and the very important demonstration at the 59th annual international mink show on the 15th.
I won't be able to make it on the 8th (birthday party of my daughter), but will try to make it on the 15th. I hope to see some of you there!

Does anyone know of any veggie clubs or potlucks in the area??

Note from the organizers:

"On January 15th We will be having a protest for the 59th Annual International Mink Show which will be held Saturday, January 15th at the Four Points Sheraton Milwaukee Airport Hotel at 4747 S. Howell Ave. We will arrive at the Hotel at 12 noon sharp. We will either stay until 2 or 3 depending how we feel.

This is going to be a HUGE protest. We will more than likely have help from activists from Michigan and Chicago. I need everyone to be there please! We need to show our support for the animals!"

Who is going to be able to make it?
I'm most likely going to be there.

I saw some questions about Peacemeal on State St. It's homey vegan food, but the service is extremely slow. Tasty chocolate cake! I want to go back to keep supporting them and also to see if they are faster (took 2 hours last time I was there - rough when you're hungry).

My mom lives in Madison (she is vegan) and my aunt took us to peacemeal. I tasted her seitan sandwich and it was the only seitan I have ever liked, so far. How do they do that? There was nothing my kids liked though. :(

They were not exactly fast when we were there, but not slow either. Of course there was only one other person in there.

Have you been back yet?

Sally! I was just in Green Bay this past Saturday and I finally went to Kavarna!!! I loved it!!! I had the falael per your recommendation and I do agree that it is quite delicious. I can't believe we crossed paths so close again without meeting.

Wausau....hmmmm...good luck. I don't know of any veggie places there, but then I've never looked.

Do you ever get to Milwaukee?

Slynny, I'm so glad you went to Kavarna (I don't know what it is about their falafel - amazing to say the least!)! I sure wish I would've had time to stop there again today on my way out. Instead, I figured I'd get lunch in Wausau but I never did find anything there so I drove the rest of the way home VERY hungry.

I think I'm going to be back in that direction in about a month. I will let you know...

And no, I've never been to Milwaukee. It's on my list of places to check out someday. :D

I am planning another visit to the Green Bay area next week. I am browsing a travel magazine I got last month when I was in town and I found an ad for a place called Something Sweet in Appleton. Has anyone heard of it? I couldn't find a website for them but the ad reads:

Something Sweet
Unique Special Desserts
Creative Vegan Meals

Tortes, Cakes, Mousse, Flaming Desserts, Old Fashion Ice Cream Treats

Across from the performing arts center
411 W. College
380-9710

I'll have to keep this Kavarna place in mind when we go to Green Bay this summer. :lick:

Sally, did you visit the place in Appleton? I've never heard of it but it's sounds great! I like that it's on College Avenue, too. Makes it very easy to find.

Hey everyone! I came across an ad for the Renewable Energy & Sustainable Living Fair while I was at the Living Green Expo in St. Paul.
The Renewable Energy & Sustainable Living Fair is being held June 17-19th in Custer, WI (7 miles east of Stevens Point).
If you would like more details on the fair, go to: http://www.the-mrea.org/energy_fair.php

Hey! I've been in Appleton before! lol. I am from the Chicago 'burbs, but I have friends in Milwaukee and Sheyboygan and I visit them from time to time. There is this cool raw group that I have just been getting into. They have raw pot lucks at the end of the month near Milwaukee. It seems cool but I have yet to go (I am never in town at the right time). It's a small group of about 5 people so far, and you can find them on meetup.com, but they're going to delete the group because now meetup.com is charging money (it was free before). If you want more info I can give you the email of the organizer. Just PM me or something, I don't want to put his info on the net where he doesn't want it or whatever. Privacy lol, you know. :) If you go, then I'll probably go!

Unfortunately, I don't get down to the Milwaukee area much. I pretty much just a bike or blade where I need to go, so I don't have the most reliable vehicle.
