Has anyone been to the Sticky fingers bakery? It's an all vegan bakery.

Oh hell yes, snownose. :) The Cowvins and the Little Devils are excellent. For some reason, the cakes tend to be a bit dry, but everything else is wonderful (and I think I've tried it all, lol). Cinnamon rolls, calzone, and (drum roll) vegan soft serve ice cream. Yum yum yum.

 They were featured in the Washington Post (I think) and I was wondering if any Vbers had been there.
Did it seem like they had a lot of customers?
Vegan soft serve?
Except for once, right at closing time, it's been quite busy. I don't think they're in any danger of going out of business. :)
Sticky Fingers just recently moved their location from Adams Morgan to Columbia Heights. The new location is much larger and more visible. It's definitely worth the trip.
Sadly, I was in there on one of the abnormally-warm days of recent weeks and was SO ready for some vegan soft-serve ice cream, but they said that they are again looking for a good supplier and don't currently have it available.
My sis was telling me that they moved to Columbia Heights. I thought this was kinda cool, since Adams-Morgan is so trendy and thus, not one of my favorite 'hoods in DC. She was saying though, that she suspected CH was going to become a bit more generic too, with the Target development and all. I hope it retains some of it's current character, at least. :worried:

If anyone personally knows of a decent group that meets near Silver Spring, MD, or in DC, please let me know. Would be cool to hook up for dinner or culture on weekends. Thanks. :)
I live in SC but I'll be in Washington DC next week. What other veg restaurants would you suggest? SC has... nothing, so I'm excited. XP

There are a ton of restaurants in the Adams Morgan area.
My most favorite restaurant of those featured is Busboys & Poets (on 14th & U streets) but it's been extremely crowded lately. Every time I go the wait is over half hour for a table. If you can make it there early (before 7pm) they definitely have the most amazing vegan pizza ever.

From June through mid-August I'm gonna be living in Mt. Airy with my cousin and her manpartner and will be making a hella commute to Suitland for internship with the Census Bureau. My questions are thusly:
1) What are some good vegan-friendly restaurants/grocery stores in the area?
2) What would be the best (ie fastest) way to get from Mt. Airy to a metro station?

HELLO! I am in So Cal, but I'm headed out for a week in D.C. tomorrow. I spent a solid hour last week going through the VegDc site and checking out what's available. I'm jealous - we have ONE restaurant in my town with a full vegan menu.
I was interested in...
Asylum - We're not really "hang out in a bar" kind of people, but boy, there menu looks like it has good junk food. It's been so long since we've had real junk food. Any feedback from anyone who's been?
Washington Deli (near our hotel - they have pizza?!)
Soul Vegetarian Restaurant
Sunflower (I've heard good things)
I'm not very adventurous (and my husband is even less so), but if anyone has a recommendation or if I mentioned someplace you'd steer clear of, please feel free to let me know!
We're definitely hitting up StickyFingers. I haven't had anything baked in a long time unless I make it myself. I plan on buying one of everything. Our hotel room has a fridge. :lick:
Thanks in advance!

Aw check out the Vegetable Garden in Rockville, it is quite good. I also got a pizza at Ella's Wood Fired with soy cheese, it was yum.
I'm gonna hit up Sticky Fingers and Java Green next weekend, and probably Soul Vegetarian the week after, before I head home. DC is like yay for veggies.
Let me second the idea of making the trip to Vegetable Garden. It's worth the trip, and it's easy accessible by metro. Sunflower is very good, but it's a bit of a haul from downtown, although you can metro to Vienna and take a short cab ride.
Otherwise, as you said, Sticky Fingers is a must. Vegetate is very good, but it's rather pricey. And I'll also second the suggestion of Ella's. Their vegan soy cheese makes a great pizza.

I started a thread in activist discussion, but I'll ask here. Is anyone here going to the Taking Action for Animals convention next weekend?
