Hi! I was wondering if anybody has ever found Galaxy Vegan Rice Cheese in any stores in the greater Seattle area? I tried some at VegFest and it was really good, but I haven't been able to find it! (I've only found the Galaxy rice cheese that has casein in it). I've checked Fred Myer, Top Foods, QFC, PCC Natural Market (Redmond), and even Whole Foods...nobody carries this stuff!
Thanks!

I've had a hard time finding it too. I think I did end up buying some at the Skagit Valley Co-op in Mt. Vernon. I also believe that I saw it at Fractional Foods, either the one on 65th or the new south Lake Union.

I have been looking for this too. No luck. I don't have much hope for it once I take it home and make it on my own. I can't seem to get fake cheese to be edible on my own.

I'll check out palisade thanks.
Yeah, what Antonio said, Canlis can do a vegan meal if you call in advance. They are quite amazing - the vegan meal I had there was incredible!! (especially since someone else paid!) and your sweetie should be happy too!
I think it's very nice that you're willing to accomodate him on this occassion. Sure we all wish we could veganize our significant other... but if we can't, (and most aren't so lucky) showing them tolerance and understanding is a good thing, and will probably get us further in our efforts than being food snobs or trying to 'force' our way of living on them...
You're doing a good thing.

I picked up the Galaxy mozz slices at the Kirkland PCC, but I prefer the Tofutti ones. The American vegan rice slices I got molded quickly, and I didn't care for them anyway.

I'm not sure if I will get tons of responses to this or not...
when hubby retires from the AF he wants to move to WA..Point Roberts to be exact. Is there anyone from there? Anyone who has been there or knows of it? I have no problems moving to WA.. I've been there before for AF training. Care to give me so pros and cons in general of your area (pr or other city/town)? That way I can tell him of other nice places I have heard of to live in case we can't find just what we are looking for at point roberts. Our oldest will be about 14/15 yo then.
thanks for your help!

So... this is another few years (or 10) down the road then, right?
Honestly the state's having such a population explosion and cities and towns in Washington are growing and expanding so fast that there's no way someone could predict what Pt. Roberts would be like in 10 years.

Oh, we are just looking to buy land right now. enough that we could just be on it without staring from our living room into someone's potty. that is what the east coast is turning out to be. I just know that most east coast people freely b*tch about where they live..good and bad..and just wondering if there was anything to share about that area..??
Our plan is to buy our land...build on it as we can..and maybe vacation there while we wait to retire. Hubby is thinking about getting out, though I wish he wouldn't, so that is another reason to ask. We don't want to go back east, but have not much clue about anything west of the mississippi except oklahoma and new mexico. If he did, that would put us there within a year or two.

Do you understand where PR is geographically? You pretty much have to go through Canada to get to the rest of Washington.
My place on 5ac in Monroe is on the market now

Yeah, I think that may be why hubby likes it. All our family is on the East Coast and I am pretty sure he is trying to get as far away as he can. The other place he was looking at moving us to is the same way..it's in Minnesota.
Where is Monroe? I'll trade you for our house in Clovis :) j/k

That's the MLS listing. Monroe is east of Everett, northeast of Seattle.

what a beautiful home! :smitten: I will show it to hubby, though it may be a bit too much for our price. Oh, but to dream!
I take back my trade, though. You would definitely be getting the shaft. Clovis isn't that great.

Does anyone have any hiking recommendations in the area? It seems like we are finally enjoying summer weather and I want to get outdoors. Thanks.

Hi fellow Washingtonians! :p
My husband and I had a "date night" last night and we checked out the Chaco Canyon Cafe (http://www.chacocanyoncafe.com/) in the U-District...OMG it was SOOOOOO good! If you live in the area, or visit the area, you have to try this out! It is an all-vegan restaurant (except I do think they offer Organic Valley milk as an option in their coffees) - and their menu is equal parts cooked vegan and raw vegan! Plus they have a juice bar selection. MMMMmmmm...it was so good I just can't rave enough about it. I ordered the pesto melt on foccaccia with a carrot cumin soup, plus a yummy juice. My husband got the artichoke melt with Egyptian lentil soup, everything was just fabulous!! The staff is friendly and the decor is cheerful and fresh and clean, I was truly impressed!
Oh, and they have a selection of raw desserts to choose from - I ordered a raspberry tart and my husband ordered a carrot cake to go - but we were too stuffed to eat them last night so I'll let you know how they are after we eat them tonight!
Just had to rave...I used to live just BLOCKS from this restaurant when I was going to the UW...but it didn't exist then!

by the way, the raspberry tart was amazing! But the raw carrot cake...just seemed like a raw carrot and nut salad...my DH wasn't impressed. But still, overall that restaurant is fantastic!!

Wow. Our Washington thread is really s-l-o-w these days! What's happened to everyone?
First post in here. I've lived in Vancouver all my life, across the bridge from Portland, Oregon.
'Lo.

Now that each state has its own forum I'll be closing the state threads. Please continue any discussion by starting a new thread in this forum. Thanks!
