Hmmm... haven't heard of Cinnamon Works. Where is it?
It's not in the main building of Pike Place, it's on the other side (east side) of the street. It's on the side of the street where Left Bank Books is, just much further back, just stay on the sidewalk and keep walking, you can't miss it, it smells fantastic. I like their vegan cinnamon rolls, vegan cobbler, and vegan snickerdoodle cookies, but I just tried another vegan cinnamon roll in seattle at the Globe Cafe & Bakery (capitol hill) and theirs is so much better (but very sticky, plan on sharing one with a friend, I ate one by myself and it gave me a headache, haha).

I agreen with Jaeska. I've been taking all my friends to Pizza Pi lately and all of them loved it and want to go back. They're pizza beats Amy's any day, but unfortunately you have to actually go to the U-district to eat some.

Everyone, go eat at Pizza Pi in the month of August!!! (and afterwards too, of course). They are taken over by a family from shoreline (they saved it from going out of business!!!) and the kids need lots of practice making pizzas before the former owner moves away.

Man, I hope the new owners are a little friendlier than the last guy. He was kinda surly. I'll check it out the next time I'm up north though.

Woo! Cool! I liked their pizza but didn't like the employees (or maybe it was the owner, don't know).

Hey VegAnna - :hi: good to see you around too!

I had the same experience. Maybe business will pick up with some good customer service.

Has their pizza gotten any better? The last time I was there (like 2 years ago) I could barely choke down a slice and had to give the rest to my friend. The crust reminded me of cardboard and the cheese of salty saltyness with the texture of peanut butter. Really don't want to waste another $20 if it isn't any better.

ETA: Do they still put the "cheese" on it? I just looked at the menu and i don't see it listed anymore.

Yeah, they still put "cheese" on it. The crust was really excellent- thin and crunchy, like crust SHOULD be.
I bought a large pizza and brought it to greenlake for a meeting with my youth group and convinced several people to try it. After half an hour, several people were duking it out for the last slice-- they couldn't believe it was vegan! :D (btw that was the "Rainy Day Favorite" which is my absolute favourite.)

Does anybody know anything about that festival this weekend? nwshare.org
I was thinking of checking it out but have never heard of it before.

Being somewhat new to Washington state, I'm afraid I have very little knowledge of "the area". We used to live on Capitol Hill and ate at Broadway Wok & Grill a lot after I gave up the meat, but I've moved a bit south--closer to Tacoma than Seattle proper. Where are good places for veg*ns to eat around here? To shop for "specialty" groceries besides Trader Joe's and Safeway? Are there any decent non-Super-Supplements or Vitamin-Worlds for alternatives in health supply?

Feel free to point me backwards in the thread, if applicable. I will continue reading through but may have missed a page!

Random - there's a great Health Food Store in Federal Way (AND Tacoma) called "Marlenes".

Also a co-op in Olympia, right off the freeway if you're ever headed that way.

Let me know if you need aything else, I live in the Tacoma area myself...

Thanks, Tofu-N-Sprouts!! I will head over to Marlene's today before work since it's on the way. From the photos of the products, this place looks just about perfect! Thank you so much for sharing! :)

I did head over. They had...EAR CANDLES! YAY! And lots of chocolate, skin care products, and the best lip balm known to personkind.

They were a bit pricey but not bad. I like Marlene's; thank you for sharing this treasure. It's definitely a good place to find almost everything you might need but be unable to find in a "regular" store.

(Except carageenan. Oh, well, that's what Amazon.com is for...)

We had a meetup (vegan.meetup.com/85) at Juliano's in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood recently, and the za was decent. Like Pizza Pi, thin crust and not the thicker type I prefer. I wrote to the Pizza Pi people about holding a meetup there, but they declined to write back.

In Olympia, Vic's (233 Division St. NW) has vegan slices for sale.

Is there any places other than Pizza Pi and Julianos to get some vegan pizza in Seattle area? I just had the best vegan pizza at Kalga Kafe in Portland and now I must find the equivalent here.

Check out http://www.seattlevegan.com/pizza.asp

I'm acquainted with the person who runs that site, and I'm confident that she's researched the entries well.

I'm hosting a vegan Thanksgiving gathering again this year. Last year we had eighteen great folks and I hope for an even larger bunch this year.

Here's the announcement I sent to the Seattle Vegan Meetup:

Votes favor us gathering on Thanksgiving Day again, so I've
entered the event on the group's calendar. An ostensible start
time of 3pm seemed to work last year, so we'll stick with
that. If you can't make it until later, that's fine too.

Please bring food or drink to share. I believe we have one
pledge of an UnTurkey; a second or a Tofurky to complement
would be outstanding. If your kitchen skills are modest, feel
free to bring bread, drinks, fruit, or other simple or
purchased items. The idea is to gather and celebate the season
and each other with a simply fantastic group of folks in a
vegan setting. Non-vegans and as many guests as you'd like are
welcome and encouraged to join us, but of course food and drink
are requested to be vegan.

Directions and details can be found here:
http://www.dreamsnake.net/directions
along with a partial list of who's signed up to bring what.

Discussion, including carpool requests/offers, can be found
here:

Yes, I've been here on-and-off because of school and getting side-tracked online, but I do come back sometimes :)

About the Olympia Co-op, I've heard bad things about the Eastside Co-op, apparently some of their food is bad because their bulk section doesn't go fast enough. I've never been to the Eastside one, only the Westide one, and that one I've never had problems with. Nice selection, but not a good place to buy convenience/processed foods, those are expensive. Not like anyone should buy that anway.

In Olympia, Vic's (233 Division St. NW) has vegan slices for sale.

Living in Olympia now, I have to say I'm glad the area is so vegan friendly. I've been to Vic's and I find their pizza tastes very much like the one from Pizza Pi, except they have more topping options. Since I love Pizza Pi's pizza, this is a good thing :lick:

VegAnna! Hi!!

I love Olympia and have had pretty good luck with both co-ops actually. Which one is the one right off I-5? East or West?

I like The Urban Onion a LOT when we're down there. I know, I know, that's where EVERYONE goes, but they're reliable, excellant service (and servers who KNOW their food) they always have yummy choices and tons of vegan items on the menu.

I think the Eastside one is the one right off I-5.
I've never been to The Urban Onion, but I've been to the Soup House a couple of times. They have wonderful falafel and hummus sandwiches, and they know what "vegan" means. Then again, who in Olympia doesn't :p

I love Olympia too :smitten: How often do you come down here? I can't remember where in the are you live...

I'm sorta Spanaway-Graham-ish - I go to the co-op about every two or three weeks, usually try to grab lunch somewhere vegan-ish while I'm there. After the Holidays I'll let you know when I'm headed down next, maybe we can meet for lunch or something.
Have you tried Trinacria on Capitol Way? Sicilian food and really yummy!

Interesting .. a vegan friend of mine in Olympia strongly dislikes Urban Onion, but I've never been there myself.

I had a good experience at Le Voyeur, though.

Some people *cough*my parents*cough* dislike the Urban Onion because there's a fairly well advertised gay bar in the back and a lot of the restaurant customers are also bar customers... <shrug>

Not a problem for me, and I've never heard a single complaint about their food unless, I suppose, you're expecting everything to be vegan and tend to get your knickers in a twist knowing the restaurant also serves *gasp* animal products!
