Make that Ristorante Antonio and you've got a deal ;) Or maybe Moonlight, haven't been there yet.
It's a deal. Well, OK, this part's a deal anyway...
If Pittsburg (NOT in California) wins - and they won't - we'll negotiate, but probably not Chez Tofu  Dogs, cats, small children, teenagers? You'd be scared, very scared...

No, I'm not in Washington, but I was curious how many of you lost power yesterday. (Super Bowl Sunday)
The papers out here say there were 28,000 homes without power in the greater Seattle area.

I lost power over Friday night - it was back on Saturday, but the freakin' phone, internet and CABLE TV were out 'till some time Sunday... VERY frustrating!

I've heard from a number of people that they were out for several hours. I was away from home for the middle of the day, and honestly hadn't reset the clock on the microwave since Friday's outage of an hour or two, so I can't be sure, but I don't think I had an outage here. If I did, it had to have been <= 20 min or so, as my computer was still up when I got in.
Wednesday - Saturday were pretty windy, which I'm sure is a root cause. I think it was Friday when the SR520 floating bridge was closed -- I've been across it when the waves were breaking over the side, but at some point they do close it. When I looked there'd been a gust to 47mph. This is on a lake where one rejoices to get a 10mph wind so sailing is feasible.
I found a ~10ft doug-fir branch *planted* in my yard from the wind:

For some reason it's not letting me attach the pic to this post.
Anyone up for an 11:30am lunch this Saturday in Issaquah?

Heading east to the Tri-Cities this weekend. Can anyone recommend some veg-friendly restaurants?

March 29, Cafe Flora in Seattle. Our current plan is for Howard Lyman to speak. There will be dozens of silent auction items, too -- yoga lessons etc.

Thursday, March 16th @ 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Grand Hyatt Hotel (721 Pine Street - Seattle)

This is a Woodland Park Zoo fundraiser, and a good place to reach those who can influence WPZ to release Bamboo to The Elephant Sanctuary. We're making up signs and banners.

OK - my review of VegFest:
I went today - and of course it was a blast and all sorts of fun samples and all - my kids just LOVE it!!
I don't quite see it as the "free-food-fest" that everyone loves it for though, it's good but overrated - I don't honestly care for jostling through crowds for a teeny sample of something everyone else may have pawed over or breathed on or sneezed on or cooked improperly or run out of just before I step up.... (just my slightly OCD personality)
OK, I do like seeing the new things and love all the coupons and there were several doctors who spoke about the HEALTH benefts of vegetarianism, and they were good though! (see? Health vegetarians aren't all bad contrary to some VBers beliefs)
However, though, tell me what you guys thought? I honestly think there were WAY too many freakin' HUMMUS samples! What is WITH that? Store-bought hummus all tastes like crap to me, and sampling 47 varities confirmed that homemade is FAR superiour! Did there really need to be THAT many hummus samples?
I had never had a "Dr. Praeger's" burger before and have heard SO many people rave about them.. I decided (after three samples) that I DID NOT care for them at all... that was good to know...
I would say 90% of the things sampled were things I had already tried or was familier with, so it wasn't all that amazing this year - but still fun, none-the-less...
(Oh, and the Purely Decadent samples were AWESOME I do have to say!)
Best of all, I was totally suprised to hear someone yell "Tofu and Sprouts" and turned around to see fellow VBer 4EverGrounded... That was a nice suprise! (of course we knew what each other looked like since we'd met up before... the rest of you missed out since we haven't yet met - and we need to do that some day!!)
So - yeah - that was my day at VegFest... I'd love to hear from others...

There are still tickets available for our benefit for Pigs Peace -- get 'em while they're hot!

So I think it's high time we do a meetup. I'm thinking maybe a meetup with pets, or do a picnic, or maybe both. How about Marymoor Park in Redmond? Just brainstorming here. Throw out some ideas and some potential dates.
