thats too bad, it sounded good. Are there any new veggie restuarants that anyone is aware of. I am on a mission to try them all.

The newest of which I'm aware is Wholesome Vegestasia on King St.

I highly recommend it if you havent been there. The sweet and sour chicken is to die for and totally different from bamboo garden which is also delicious.

I don't think they're "new" but they don't get NEAR enough notice so I'm telling you about them whether you've heard about them or not, and that is Hillside Quickie in Seattle, and Quickie Too in Tacoma. They do these AMAZING "tofu-strami" sandwiches and Jamaican Jerk Tempeh burgers and "meatloaf" and mashed potatos and gravy and OMG - the food is SO amazing!! It's good ol' southern cooking with a vegan twist - and some Jamaican flair thrown in. EVERYTHING on the menu is vegan. And I've tried about four of the burgers or sandwiches and they are all yuhummmmy!!!
A great change from your typical Thai-Chinese-Indian "ethnic vegan" fare which is about all there seems to be for Vegans in this town some days... don't you just sometimes wish you could something "typically" American like a burger with a side of gooey, mayonaissy macaroni salad and some french fries - and a huge warm chocolate-chip cookie for dessert? YOU CAN!! And it's ALL VEGAN!!! (They do a brunch too, though I haven't been to that... rumors are that it is amazing)
I love these two little places, and even though the one waiter seems to also be the cook and the service is laid-back-island-rasta-turtle-slow and I had to add up my own bill last time (I'm honestly not sure the guy could add...) and when I asked for a soda he pointed to the cooler and said just go back there and pick out your own... yeah, well... it's casual, what can I say...
I STILL reccommend them to people because - first of all - I want them to stick around!! I want them to stay in business!! And second, I LOVE LOVE LOVE their food!!!
The places themselves are TOTAL dives (especially the Tacoma location - OMG it's scarey...) ... little shrines to pay homage to Ziggy Marley and cobwebs in the windows and the door is propped open with a broken chair, and not a single piece of silverware or dish matches... but DON'T let this discourage you - they're clean and simple and neat inside. (And did I mention GOOD!!)
A woman next to me was raving over her sandwich and said to her dining companion "I've never eaten anything vegetarian, but this is good - it tastes just like breaded veal" (Well, :brood: WHATEVER!! I haven't a CLUE what veal tastes like and wouldn't have eaten it even if I'd ever been omni - but evidently the tofu, seitan and or tempeh sandwiches are pretty good, even to ignorant omnis.)
I should be their spokes-person! :bobo: I only wish I lived closer...
But yeah. You ought to try one of the locations... http://www.hillsidequickie.com/
(The website sucks, it's hopelessly out-of-date, but you can get a little idea... some terribly computer literate person should volunteer to re-do their website for them.)
Have you been to the Teapot location in Redmond? It's super-yummy too... and what other places? I've been to quite a few over the summer with family and friends, so am getting my own personal mental list of "Veg Friendly Places" ... let me know where you've been...

There is a new vegan place I think. Or is that the one you are talking about? No, just found it. Pure Manifestations is what it's called. NOOOO... just found out something else. Apparently it doesn't exist anymore according to to this other website. Argh, with all the out-dated websites out there it's so hard to find a nice place to eat.
I've been to Coffee Messiah once and they have wonderful vegan sandwiches. (beware, some of the hot beverages/coffees aren't vegan, they could have had me cry with joy had the white chocolate mocha been vegan). There's a bus that goes from Steward street up the hill to where Denny and Olive meet, it's close to the corner. Pretty small and pretty weird but nice nevertheless.

Coffee Messiah has an AWESOME brunch too!! Went there a few weeks back with a friend and he wasn't vegan but he has been raving about it ever since!!

I am going to be in Seattle and Everett for a night each for business. Can anyone recommend what place would be best to try out? Also maybe someplace that I won't feel too weird going to alone...

Don't know anything about Everett but you might PM anthony11 - he knows all the veg places in Washington, I swear...
When will you be in Seattle? What part of Seattle?
My favorites (and I've been to them alone) are Teapot (vegan Thai/Asian) in Redmond or Seattle and Bamboo Garden (vegan chinese - they use a lot of the mock meats which I just LOVE but some people get weirded out about...) which is in downtown Seattle.
Rock Pizza has several locations, they have a vegan crust and will do any of their pizzas cheeseless, they have awesome combos with every sort of roasted veggie and "extra" you can imagine... there's a vegan pizza place (Pizza Pi) in Seattle but they aren't the greatest - they were really rude the two times I was there too...
There are tons of other good places, let's see, I love Queen of Sheba, it's Ethiopian and SOOO yummy but it's always so quiet in there, I feel a little weird alone. Arayas is supposed to be pretty good, I think they're in the University District?
World Wraps, Qdoba and TacoDelMar are all chains that offer a BUNCH of vegan options and are quick and easy to get into. Anything around the University, I swear, is going to have vegan options...
Coffee Messiah has good breakfasts and lots of vegan stuff - they are YUM!!! - it's on Capitol hill as well, busy, fun and easy to go to alone. Hillside Quickie (also the U. district) has the most amazing Jamaican-Jerk tofu and tempeh "burgers" but the 'restaurant" is a little hole in the wall and sort of a Ziggy-Marley-reggae-inspired dive... but if you're brave - it's so worth it - they have amazing, wonderful southern/Jamaican/all-American sort of food... drooling just thinking about it...
When are you in town? If you wanted the dining company of a frumpy, 40-ish teacher-mom-used-to-be-hippie-but-now-more-conservative, one evening I could possibly meet you somewhere - PM me if you're interested...

My connectivity is fuxored right now, but go with what TNS wrote.
No veg-only in Everett. I'd suggest eating a later dinner when you're in everett and driving into seattle if you want veg-only. Or, there's a mongolian grill just west of I5 on 128th st. on the north side of the street.
I'd do Teapot in Seattle one night and Cafe Flora another.

Thanks you two! :) I have some friends in Seattle, but they might be out of town the days I am there, or just return that day, so we're not sure if we can meet up yet or not... so if not, I will see if I can hook up with ya! :)

Hey, me too! I'll be in Seattle on business next week (Oct 10-15), and I was wondering not only what there is to eat but what there is to do. I'm definitely interested in those suggestions, but I'm also wondering are there any (preferably vegan) places open late nights/all night? My work will probably take me into the wee hours. :(
The only all night place I can remember is Cafe Minnies on 2nd & Denny (not veg, but good coffee and great atmosphere). Any other suggestions for night owls?

Stella's used to be a good bet (minestrone vegan if you get it sans cheese) but they closed recently. Trattoria Mitchelli is still in Pioneer Square, I guess, and they're probably open until 1am at least.
Teapot is open until 10 - 10:30 I think. I don't know that any of the all-veg places are open later than that. The Subway on 4th in the SODO area is 24 hour, IIRC, and the one on 45th by UW is for sure.

Awwww... I'm gonna be in New Mexico with my sweetie, or I'd love to meet up with you (especially because your username has got to be one of my favorites on the board!)
Coffee Messiah on Capitol Hill is open Mon-Thu 7:00am-12:00 midnite, Fri-Sat 7:00am- 2:00am, and Sun 7:00am-12:00 midnite according to the take-out menu I just dug out from under the seat in my car...
1554 E Olive Way, Seattle, (206) 861-8233
They aren't totally vegan, but swing that way - they have an awesome tofu "eggs benedict" and a ton of other vegan stuff that I haven't tried, plus the typical pastries and coffee house goodies - many of which are also deliciously vegan.
Be warned the staff and many of the patrons can be a bit um... ambivelant... I guess is the word? (you know, the eye-rolling, shrugging sort-of people who don't really actually TALK to you...)
But most of them are nice.
To note: there is some very unique artwork (modern renditions of classical religious paintings) that can be troublesome, I suppose? (of course I had a 5-year-old with me).
Lots of places around the University stay open late - or all night - but I'd be hard pressed to tell you which ones and have no idea if their menus would have any vegan options...

Do you speak German? Are you a fan of Strauss?
Or do you just like the sound of it? :)

Well, have a wonderful time in NM, T-n-S! I guess I'll just have to set up cardboard cut outs of all you guys across the table from me. Coffee Messiah is definitely within my zone of travel. Anthony11, I'll be staying in Pioneer Square, so Trattoria sounds perfect (open til 4am according to their website). Thanks!
Re: Coffee Messiah
lol, I just read some of the reviews on citysearch.com. Here are a few:
if you don't have facial tattoos, don't bother going to this place. you'll be snickered at. ... the biscuits were good...still wasn't worth the dirty looks.
The coffee is swell, the pastries are tasty, but the vulgar artwork makes my departure hasty.
As a citizen of the Hill, I appreciate Coffee Messiah's quirkiness, but some of the recently added wall art (especially the literal rendering of the Lord's Supper) is revolting enough to turn one's stomach.
Well, I've been warned! But I'm sure when I drag my butt in there after a long day, I'll be pretty ambivalent myself, so maybe I'll fit right in. Sounds perfect.
Thanks for the tips gang. My flight leaves tomorrow!

Definitely both!! (OK, my German is a bit rusty...)
Re: Coffee Messiah
I just went and read those reviews - at least from my point of view, I think they're a bit harsh... it's much more fun and funky and eclectic than that honestly... you'll have fun!
Any chance you'll be back this way another time?

The minestrone is excellent -- at least, it was at Stellas and Angelina's. Just ask for no cheese when you order.
Should be several vegan pasta entrees on the menu, eg. red pesto pasta of the day.

Hey everybody, I'm in Seattle. I luvvvvvvs this town! People rock. Cars don't run over pedestrians. Random people declare in the drizzling rain, "This weather is beautiful!" And you've got some of the most intelligent & entertaining homeless people I've ever met.
Ok, but now I've gotta share my short, embarassing experience at Coffee Messiah...
It was a monday, and the full kitchen is closed on Mondays, so I chose from their pastry items. The guy at the counter was very cool. I paid for my vegan chocolate cupcake mmm and decided to leave him a nice tip in the tip mug on the counter. *plop* *plop* right in front of him. He goes, "Umm... that was my coffee."
  :dunce:
Needless to say, I was too embarrassed to stick around, so I grabbed my cupcake and ate it outside (in the rain :().
Then I walked back to Pioneer Square and found a cool Indian buffet. It's not advertised as veg, but the buffet is 75% vegan. I don't remember the name of the place, but it's on 1st Ave a block or 2 south of Main, I think.
Today I think I'll be adventurous and go back to Coffee Messiah wearing a disguise of course.
Tofu, I'll definitely be back this way again. Luuvvvvvs this town!!! I hope you're having a good time in NM, too. :)

Woohoo... glad your experience has been awesome... (well, except for the tip thing - that's downright hilarious...sorry...)
I didn't know about the Indian place down by Pioneer Square; there are a lot of Indian places in town but sometimes vegan choices are few and far between in a buffet... (They'll advertise as "Pure Vegetarian" or "Strict Vegetarian" and when asked, they'll tell you it's the same as vegan)
I'm glad to know this one has lots of vegan items to choose from - very cool!:hamster: :hamster:

Cafe Flora does a set dinner that was lovely last year. I strongly suspect that NARN (http://www.narn.org) folks will have a dinner -- I may even offer to host it.
