Hi, celestial. :) I'm from the Dallas area. I think there are a few others here from DFW.

I am also from the DFW area. I finally met a vegetarian at a New Year's party but he does not live around here. Wish I knew more.

Anyone live in, or around, The Woodlands? The Woodlands is about 40+ miles north of downtown Houston, between Spring and Conroe. Anyhow, there are a few Vegan friendly restaraunts in the area here, namely P.F. Chang's, Macaroni Grill, and Fazoli's, also there is an H.E.B. World Market here that sells LOTS of organic and Vegan goods.

I went to that HEB the last time I was in the Woodlands years ago! Pretty town, nice store.

I'm from Dallas. I know that it's in no way better than Austin for us, but I think you'd be surprised. I believe in becoming totally immersed in your surroundings, and since I haven't traveled much yet, I have been totally immersed in Dallas for the last 21 years. There are nooks and crannies you wouldn't believe. There are people you'd swear were transported from Austin or California. There is a raw food restaurant. I repeat: THERE IS A RAW FOOD RESTAURANT IN DALLAS. It's on Lower Greenville and it's called Pure.

Whenever I travel anywhere else besides Austin, I find myself longing for Dallas's countless veggie options.

I actually didn't notice this thread was here and I've been on this board for a minute so here's my shout-out!!! I live in Texarkana! I'll bet I'm the only one who lives in Texarkana on this board. Actaully, I am probably the only vegan in Texarkana. The only reason I live here is because it is cheap to live here and my business is doing well. Other than that, there is absolutely no way I woudl be living here. People here think that vegans are people from Vega. When I tell them I don't consume animal products they look at me and blink like a deer caught in headlights.......

I'm from the Dallas area as well, but I can't think of that many veggie options. Maybe you can share with us. :) I know of Cosmic Cafe, Kalachandjis and a few other Indian places, but I don't know of any straight up veggie spots.

Actually, there are two (2) HEBs in The Woodlands, now. The older one, which has been remodeled and expanded/enlarged, and then there is the HEB World Market.

Anyhow, is there ANYONE close to The Woodlands, at least, say in Spring, or Conroe... It sure would be nice to have some company.

I'm going to be in Dallas (Infomart) from 3/21 until 3/24. Had a heck of a time finding vegan lunch/dinner last time I was at this office - mostly ended up skipping or at a Mongolian grill place. Anyone care to meet up for dinner 3/21 - 3/23?

I can ask someone I know in Fort Worth who's vegan if they know any good vegan eats if you want.

You might try Cosmic Cafe. http://www.cosmiccafedallas.com/ I believe the Infomart is very close to it. And Cosmic Cafe is way yummy.

I just wanted to let anyone who might be in the Houston area know of a GREAT place to eat. It is called Maggiano's. It is a wonderful Italian restaurant. I ate there several times when I was omni, and was pleased when I became veggie and looked at the menu again to find that there were many options for vegetarians, and some that could be made vegan with a little tweaking as well. There are several locations in the Houston area, and it is well worth a little drive.

I haven't eaten at Maggiano's since before I went veg, but I'm planning on having my birthday dinner there come September. I'm hoping I'll be able to have a family style dinner with all veggie dishes.

Not too far from you-- it's in the Galleria area on Post Oak just north of Westheimer.

I don't really remember. It's been ages since I've been there. I want to say it's a little pricier than Olive Garden, but then it's a slightly nicer chain.

Hey Houstonians, I just ate at Madras Pavilion on Kirby and it was GOOD! We had the dinner for 2 for $32 and it is a HUGE meal. Delicious samosas and dosai.

Dallas vegan here! :)
Is it true what I hear... they are planning on opening a Spiral Diner in Dallas?? The guy at Cosmic Cafe (GREAT veggie rest) told me that. If it's true then I've died and gone to heaven. Also... what in the heck happened to that raw foods restaurant? I think it's called Pure Cafe? It opened for a month or so then they had to close down b/c the stupid city wanted to put a damn bank in place of a few of the shops/restaurants on Greenville. I haven't heard anything about them re-opening though. :(
