OK, it sounds like we're on for lunch at Madras Pavilion on Saturday the 23rd, that's this coming Saturday. The location is on Kirby just north of highway 59, and I suggest we just meet there at noon straight up. So far kentauros, sallyomally, veggieeater, and IdealisticGirl sound like they want to go, so I'm guessing there'll be five of us. I dunno if anyone is bringing an SO, but I'm not. He'll be out of town.

I'm also PMing this message to the relevant people.

I'll actually be in Houston in February for College auditions, but I don't know how much spare time I'll have since they're all day auditions.

A new vegetarian restaurant is opening in San Antonio in November! It's called "Green" and will be SA's first all-veg restaurant.

Hey Houston folks, although I am not participating in the forum for now, I am always happy to get together with any Houstonians or folks who are in Houston for any reason for meals and company. I'm working downtown, so if there's anyone who's in the area and would like to meet for lunch during the week, let me know. Just use VB's email function to email me.

Back to visit VB after what must be at least a year away (time flies)

Wanted to pop in here to see if anyone knows where I can get the larger jars of Vegemite or Marmite in the San Antonio or Austin area. I get mine now from World Market, but they are way too small bottles for my appetite of peanutbutter & Marmite sandwiches..... (I know, yuck) :)

I live in New Braunfels.

p.s - good to know about that Green restaurant - will be sure to check it out when it opens.

I've seen vegemite at Sun Harvest in SA! They also have it at British Sensations I believe.

Hi all. I'm originally from Illinois (where I first went veg) and then moved to TEXAS... whoa... actually it wasn't that bad a transition. I actually went vegan for a while when working at central market on Broadway (in SA)...
I'm now in San Marcos, and striving toward veganism again...
I work a thte Tantra coffeehouse... any of you heard of it yet? We're all veg but not very vegan friendly, YET... If you want to check it out let me know ahead of time and I'll have good things for you to munch and drink...
lovin' you!

I've heard of British Sensations, but I haven't been there yet. I'll see if they have directions on their website. I don't remember seeing at Sun Harvest; I'll have to look next time I'm there. Thanks for the tips!

I'm originally from DFW (grew up in Arlington)...but I'm currently transplanted (most unfavorably) in Lubbock. Yes. Lubbock...someone hold me.

Nice to meet y'all. :D

ETA: And I'm a vegetarian with vegan leanings. :)

I'm currently away for college but my parents live in AUSTIN, TX and I am in love with that city! It's pretty much one of my favorite places ever. :) Veggie Heaven and Kirby Lane are two of my favorite resteraunts, as well as the infamous Whole Foods. Yum!

I've heard so much about Kerby Lane, but had no idea they had so many vegan options! Go figure... it IS in Austin. :P

Spiral Diner is having more cooking classes this fall/winter. One is this coming Monday and the next will be Monday, December 11th at 7PM. [It's $45 per person or $80 per couple.]

Check it out:
We'll walk you through how to make all the fixins: Sesame Glazed Green Beans, Whipped Coconut Sweet Potatoes, Georgia Peanut Soup, Cranberry Pecan Dressing, Rosemary Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potato Pie and More!

YUMM. I can't wait to learn how to make a fullout vegan holiday-esque meal. :)
