i know I keep making comments about foods in here, so I may just post them elsewhere soon but I just wanted to express my excitement about Earth Balance Soy Garden buttery spread. totally vegan and unbelievably delicious. Soooo much better than real butter. It is amazing. Its like eating a healthy fat and knowing it. I have never experienced the different between healthy fats and not so healthy fats and tasted the difference. You can here. Oh I just want to have toast all day long so I can taste that again. ( If you havent noticed it already I am obsessed with food, which is why im so surprised that being vegetarian is so easy for me ). Party in my mouth, full of dancing veggies. I think Im going to make that my signature. with my buddy bobo. :)

That's why you should NOT be surprised that being veggie is easy! I'm convinced that the more a person loves food, the more that person will be open to enjoying vegetables and all the new foods that usually come with being veg. All the people I know who are big foodies enjoy a vegetarian meal as much as anyone here-- they just lack the vegetarian ethic, so they don't see why they should cut out those other foods they also enjoy. It's the people who only eat the same five foods over and over (most of them meat and potatoes) who are the most miserable when they can't have them, because they don't know what else to eat.
(Just don't go crazy on that butter, OK?)

I completely agree with that 10000% Tess. Someone once said to me " Wow, I guess you don't like food very much then," when I told them I was a vegetarian. I laughed, and laughed at them (not at them, but at the statement). A few of my coworkers were almost peeing themselves too, because they know what a foodie I am. And it IS the people who eat the same 5 things over and over again that can't handle the thought of being a vegetarian. Or eating brown rice, or tofu, or indian, or a vegetable that isn't peas or corn or carrots!

They have it at all of my supermarkets like Shop Rite and A&P. I also find it at Mrs. Greens and Trader Joes.

They sell it at health food stores and some large supermarkets.
I've never had EB () but I use Smart Balance Light with flaxoil and MAN that stuff is good. Once my Smart Balance tub runs out I'm going to get EB. :lick:

cool! I can't wait to try! I am just in the proccess of moving, so I picked the worst possible time to decide to make the switch, but I'm doing my best until I am in my own place again, and looking forward to things to try once I get settled!!!!:smitten:

I hear there is a "cream cheese" similar to this that is yummmmy!

I honestly can't see the hype over Earth Balance...
As far as margerines go, it's good, but it definitely does NOT taste like real butter. Not at all.
I do use it though, because I've stopped using real butter, but it is NOT the same.

I think I was just sooo happy to find something that tasted "good" on my toast/bagel etc. when I gave up dairy. I used to be a butter junkie but I got so used to EB that the thought of butter now makes me go yuck! It's not one of the things I still crave because the EB is really good enough to me. I still look at cheese longingly, though.

No it doesn't taste like butter, but it tastes better than butter (to some, me included).

I grew up on margarine, so it just tastes like margarine to me. I don't notice any difference from what I've been eating all my life.

Now this I understand! I really don't 'crave' cheese, but there's absolutely nothing that compares and every now and then I just really wish some mad vegan scientist would come up with an exact replica of a good blue cheese for my salads...

Exactly! I am reknowned for being a foodie by those who know me. I didn't give a damn about food before going veg, it was bland and uninteresting. Now I spend my hours looking forward to my next meal. ;)

This bummed me out as well which is why I only eat it on rare occasions.

I thought their new packaging said rather large "Non-hydrogenated oil." I only have the Better Than Sour Cream at the moment.

No, it's not. Not as creamy or sweet.
However, it is pretty salty, so it will usually enhance the flavor of whatever you're eating, and satisfy the fat craving at the same time. I love it on toast. :)

Tofutti makes two versions, the original made with hydrogenated fats and a newer non-hydrogenated variety. With the Better than Cream Cheese the original has a blue lid and the non-hydrogenated has yellow. I don't know if they make two versions of the Sour Supreme as well.

I saw the two different colors but didn't make the connection. I will defintely have to be on the look out now for the non hydrogenated one.

No! :brood: I try not to eat that stuff. I always read labels, but apparently in my glee to find this product I overlooked that. That's what happens when I lose my head.
